Riportiamo quanto avevamo scritto nel Pronostico: noi siamo per Union Rags dato a 6/1 come quota vincente e confidiamo nella tenacia e voglia di vincere del suo jockey Velazquez. Partono con la gabbia n°3, ottima come partenza, mentre il favorito I’ll Have Another esce dalla n°11. Suggeriamo: Union Rags, vincente e piazzato.
Risultato e commento: Preso !!! Ha vinto, abbiamo avuto ragione nel pronostico e nel leggere la corsa. E siamo convinti che anche se avesse corso I’ll Have Another (ci dispiace per il ritiro forzato), avrebbe comunque vinto Union Rags.

Union Rags just gets up to win Belmont by a neck

FOR so long burdened with a huge reputation, Union Rags(Michael Matz/John Velazquez) finally came good with a determined victory in Saturday’s Belmont Stakes.
Even though there was no Triple Crown on the line after the late withdrawal of I’ll Have Another the day before the race, a crowd of 85,811 were rewarded with a thriller for the New York Classic.
Union Rags sneaked up the rail under a strong drive to score by a neck over front-running Paynter, with outsider Atigun taking third. Heavily fancied Dullahan was a bitter disappointment, never able to land a blow.
