CARLTON HOUSE’S task on his return in the Group 3 Betfair Brigadier Gerard Stakes at Sandown on Thursday night looks like being easier than anticipated after Monterosso was not declared.
It had been widely anticipated that the Dubai World Cup winner would have his first start since winning the world’s richest race but he was an absentee from the six horses declared for the 1m 2f contest.
Monterosso was also entered in the Diamond Jubilee Coronation Cup at Epsom on Saturday and Godolphin will now rely solely on Hunter’s Light for the Sandown race.
Sir Michael Stoute, trainer of Carlton House, will be trying to win the race for a record seventh time on Thursday when The Queen’s colt will also face Colombian, Sagramor, I’m A Dreamer and Sos Brillante.
