Abbiamo cercato di capire come mai Trumpet Major non abbia praticamente corso, ed ecco la risposta di John Manley, suo proprietario: “At the three furlong from home marker when asked to join battle he did not respond and coughed afterwards. Richard Hughes said he ran no sort of race and he was not knocked about and so had a relatively easy race. He will be scoped when he returns to the yard. He is still in the St James’s Palace Stakes (1mile) at Royal Ascot”. In pratica dice Mr. Manley il cavallo ai 600 quando doveva iniziare a competere non ha risposto come doveva, tant’è che nel dopo corsa ha anche avuto qualche colpo di tosse. Hughes, suo interprete in sella, ha detto che in pratica non aveva corso. Il cavallo rimane comunque iscritto nelle St. James’s Palace Stakes sul miglio al Royal Ascot. Per consolarsi, Mr. Manley ci informa che a giorni avrà un figlio di Bertolini , un 2 anni dal nome importante, Correggio, pronto per correre e che ha dimostrato di saper muovere le gambe. Testuali parole: “I have quite a nice two year old by Bertolini called (hold your breath) Correggio, an old Italian Master painter. He will have a run soon”.
