PARISH HALL, who was set to return at the Curragh on Saturday, has been ruled out of the Irish 2,000 Guineas and will miss the Investec Derby at Epsom next Saturd

He had been as short as 7-2 clear favourite with Betfred for the Irish 2,000 Guineas but Bolger confirmed that he had developed a hind leg infection which will also rule him out of the Derby next week.

Parish Hall had been a general 14-1 chance for the Epsom showpiece but Bolger said: “Parish Hall has an infection on a hind leg which came to light this morning. It’s fairly well blown up and he has a high white cell count.

“We should know more about the situation by Wednesday or Thursday but he misses the Irish 2,000 Guineas and he is definitely out of the Derby.”

After news of Parish Hall’s absence broke, Power was quickly installed as clear market leader for the Irish 2,000 Guineas with most firms at 7-2.

Trumpet Major is now as short as 4-1 with Coral whileHermival is generally available at 9-2. Takar is a general 5-1 chance.

Paddy Power confirmed they will refund all antepost bets placed on Parish Hall for the Irish 2,000 Guineas and the Derby.
