Goffs

The catalogue for the Goffs October HIT & Yearling Sale at Doncaster is now online and will offer 171 horses on Tuesday 22 October from 10am.

The sale has a proven history of producing quality horses and this year its graduates have been led by the 3YO Alfa Kellenic. Purchased by Steve Burdett from Mickley Stud for just £20,000, the son of Havana Grey has won six of his seven starts this season for trainer Craig Lidster and has already amassed over £128,000 in prize money.

The sale will comprise predominately horses-in-training and features some promising younger types including the debut bumper winner Murat (Lot 132) who delivered a smart performance at Killarney for his trainer Peter Lawlor, stretching clear in the closing stages after running prominently to win his only start by over five lengths. Others to feature include the 3YO Teriferma (Lot 128) who has won two of his three hurdle starts for Joseph O’Brien, and Not Now Darling (Lot 133), who won her debut bumper for Andrew Slattery at Killarney. Another to feature is the 5YO Bosh (Lot 44) who has won twice this season over six-furlongs for Richard Hannon and has achieved a BHA rating of 93.

The catalogue will also offer a partial dispersal of 30 lots from trainer John Hanlon which will feature a mix of unraced stock, pointers and horses that have raced under rules. Entries include I Am Spiderman (Lot 83) who has won two Class 3 hurdle races this season and Lion City (Lot 85) who won his maiden bumper on his most recent start at Sedgefield.

Other trainers represented with horses in the sale include Brian Ellison, Charlie Johnston, Charlie Longsdon, Dan Skelton, David Barron, Donald McCain, Ian Williams, Jamie Snowden, John Quinn, Karl Burke, Kevin Ryan, Nigel Tinkler, Oliver Greenall, Olly Murphy, Stuart Crawford, Tim Easterby, Tim Vaughan, Tom Ellis, Tom Lacey etc.

As usual, the sale includes a selection of yearlings with sires represented including Ardad, Iffraaj, Invincible Army, Mohaather, Sergei Prokofiev, Showcasing, Starman, Supremacy etc.

Goffs UK Managing Director Tim Kent commented:

“The October Sale offers buyers their last chance to secure a Donny yearling in 2024 and with some yearlings eligible for the Great British Bonus and Harry’s Half Million by Goffs, buyers can purchase in the hope of picking up their share of significant prize money on the track. The catalogue also features some attractive young NH stock, as well as horses from many of the leading trainers, so there is plenty of quality to capture the attention of buyers.”
