The €2.4-million sale-topping Dubawi filly, lot 108, becomes the third yearling since 2015 to pass €2-million at Arqana’s flagship yearling sale.
 
The pace picked up on the second day of the sale; the average for the day was €311,250, and the median €215,000. The cumulative average for Part I was €258,479 (-11.4% from 2019) and the median €185,000 (-16%). The clearance rate was 74.5%.
 
Dubawi (Ire) was the leading sire of Part I with five sold for an average of €1,012,000.
 
Saxon Warrior (Jpn) was responsible for the highest price for a first-season sire during Part I of the sale; lot 135 sold to Oliver St Lawrence for €370,000.
 
Half of the Roaring Lions offered during Part I (3) were bought by David Redvers, who bought the late Horse of the Year himself as a yearling. He had a high price of €300,000, the colt out of Cheriearch, and a half-brother to last Sunday’s impressive winner at Deauville, Welwal, from Haras des Capucines.
 
Monceaux was leading vendor of Part I for the ninth straight year, with 28 sold for €8,507,000.
 
Oliver St Lawrence edged Godolphin as leading buyer with five purchased for €3,335,000. Godolphin bought six for €3,220,000.
