02/05/2021. (FRA) ParisLongchamp: Ganay Triumph For Australia’s Mare Australis

Mare Australis | Scoop Dyga

By Tom Frary

There was more Boudot magic at ParisLongchamp on Sunday as “PC” made all to draw the sting from all rivals and land the G1 Prix Ganay with Mare Australis (Ire) (Australia {GB}). Vastly improved from last summer, Gestut Schlenderhan’s homebred had signed off with a second in the G2 Prix du Conseil de Paris over 11 furlongs here and was in the same position on his return behind Skalleti (Fr) (Kendargent {Fr}) in the 10-furlong G2 Prix d’Harcourt again at this venue Apr. 11. Stretching every rival including the 9-5 favourite Mogul (GB) (Galileo {Ire}) who was in closest attendance, the 5-2 second favourite kicked in the straight to drop that Ballydoyle raider and kept galloping as Gold Trip (Fr) (Outstrip {GB}) closed out wide. At the line, the winner had 1 3/4 lengths to spare over Gold Trip to provide Andre Fabre with a seventh renewal, while Mogul ended up the same margin away in third.
