The current nationwide Level 3 Covid-19 restrictions in Ireland are due to expire on 28 October, however should the current restrictions remain beyond the end of October, the protocols in place during Land Rover will allow Goffs to conduct sales in a safe and compliant manner. The recent Land Rover Sale exceeded all expectations despite taking place against the backdrop of a local lockdown in Kildare, and Goffs will mirror the safety and compliance protocols implemented at the Land Rover to ensure the best possible environment to conduct the business of buying and selling horses. Goffs Group Chief Executive Henry Beeby commented: “Goffs’ purpose is to provide the best marketplace for Irish breeders, in Ireland, and I wish to reassure vendors and buyers that our commitment to creating the best possible conditions for successful sales remains as strong as ever whilst we prioritise the safety and well-being of all clients and staff. Our remaining three sales this year traditionally attract a strong mix of Irish and overseas buyers to Kildare Paddocks. The Autumn Sale will be the only dedicated yearling sale in Ireland this year and, given the enormous success Irish trainers have enjoyed with Autumn graduates this year, we expect strong domestic demand coupled with participation by a range of buyers across Europe – be that in person, via Goffs Online or through agents on the ground. The market leading November Foal Sale is dominated by Irish buyers. Indeed, Irish pinhookers top the foal ranks across Europe. So the biggest amount of buyers are here, but that will not deflect us from working to ensure the participation of a number of valued foal purchasers from the UK and further afield and we will also work to ensure the involvement of several key international end users for whom our world class catalogue should hold huge appeal. It also widely considered that breeding stock is the category most suited to purchasing online if necessary, so our online bidding platform will be used to full effect as a support to everything we are doing on the ground. Goffs December National Hunt Sale is fast becoming the first choice National Hunt foal sale with many Irish vendors, and has also seen some record breeding stock prices in recent years. Dominated by Irish buyers, alongside a number of key UK purchasers, we are very pleased with how the 2020 catalogue is coming together and look forward to announcing the details in the coming weeks. I wish to also take this opportunity to thank every Goffs vendor and buyer for their continued support as, together with the entire bloodstock industry, we react and adapt to the unprecedented circumstances brought about by the Covid-19 pandemic. Rest assured that the Goffs team is doing everything in our power to act in the best interests of our valued clients and maximise the opportunities for your horses so that we repay the trust every vendor places in us with each entry”. |
