Coolmore’s Kew Gardens (Ire) (Galileo {Ire}),
who snapped champion stayer Stradivarius (Ire) (Sea The Stars {Ire})’s winning streak in the G2 Long Distance Cup on British Champions Day at Ascot in October, will make his 2020 bow in the $1.5-million G2 Dubai Gold Cup. The Aidan O’Brien trainee, who won the 2018 G1 Grand Prix de Paris as well as the G1 St Leger during his 3- year-old year, was never off the board in four starts last term, running second three timesBin the G3 Ormonde S. in May, the G1 Coronation Cup at Epsom later that month and the G1 Irish St. Leger in September, prior to his Ascot win.
I’m very happy with Kew Gardens, O’Brien told the Emirates Racing Club notes team. AIt=s more possible at the moment that he’ll go for the two miles. He was at Dundalk recently [for a piece of work] and we’re very happy with him. Other O’Brien stablemates that are likely to line up for Dubai World Cup night on May 28 are 2019 G1 Investec Derby hero Anthony van Dyck (Ire) (Galileo {Ire}) and the globetrotting G1SW Magic Wand (Ire) (Galileo {Ire}). The latter was last seen in action running ninth over the dirt in the $20-million Saudic Cup in Riyadh on Feb. 29. Added O=Brien, AAnthony Van Dyck and [GSW & MG1SP] Fleeting (Ire) (Zoffany {Ire}) are likely for the [$6-million G1 Longines Dubai Sheema Classic] and Magic Wand has come out [of] her [unplaced finish in the Saudi Cup] very well.
