XVIII Premio Lydia Tesio “Le donne dell’ippica”

«Un incontro tra la storia, le sue bellezze e il mondo dell’ippica nel meraviglioso contesto della Sala della Protomoteca. Una cerimonia esclusiva per premiare le eccellenze femminili legate, in diverse forme, al mondo del cavallo, ma anche un’occasione per testimoniare il prezioso valore, celebrato da anni, di una figura eccezionale come Lydia Tesio, il cui Premio verrà disputato questo weekend durante il Roma Champions Day 2019. La Capitale rinnova il legame che storicamente la lega all’universo equestre mostrandosi come ambìta vetrina internazionale sede delle più grandi e importanti kermesse mondiali». 
Con queste parole l’Assessore allo Sport, Politiche Giovanili e Grandi Eventi di Roma Capitale Daniele Frongia ha aperto la cerimonia di consegna del Premio “Le signore dell’ippica”, Galà organizzato da HippoGroup Roma Capannelle, con il patrocinio di Roma Capitale, dedicato alle eccellenze al femminile che nell’ambito della loro vita professionale hanno saputo creare un connubio indissolubile con il mondo del cavallo. 
 
Il premio, ormai un appuntamento fisso nel panorama ippico capitolino, ha raggiunto il traguardo delle diciotto edizioni. Un connubio perfetto tra sport, eleganza, cultura ed arte. 
Particolarmente emozionato l’ing. Elio Pautasso, direttore generale Hippogroup Roma: «Siamo tutti molto orgogliosi di essere qui, nella sala della Protomoteca in Campidoglio, per  premiare le eccellenze dell’ippica, dell’equitazione e del mondo del cavallo in genere. Una celebrazione, come da tradizione ormai da diciotto anni, che è il prologo del Premio Lydia Tesio, anche quest’anno inserito nella ricchissima giornata del Roma Champions Day in programma domenica 3 novembre, appuntamento che racchiude tutti i grandi premi dell’autunno e che rappresenta un momento di alto contenuto tecnico per il galoppo europeo». 
 
Nel corso della serata è stata presentata l’opera celebrativa che arricchirà la collezione ‘Capannelle per Lydia Tesio’, un’iniziativa che fin dalla prima edizione affianca il Premio Le Signore dell’Ippica, curata dal fotografo di fama internazionale Marco Delogu. Nel corso degli anni sono state coinvolte molte firme importanti del mondo della pittura (il primo quadro porta la firma di Giosetta Fioroni) e della fotografia. Quest’anno particolarmente apprezzata è stata l’opera 2019, realizzata dall’artista  Benedetta Cibrario.

Elio Pautasso e Marco Oppo, responsabile tecnico del galoppo, hanno presentato la prossima edizione del Roma Champions Day, in programma all’Ippodromo Capannelle domenica 3 novembre. Un imperdibile appuntamento per tutti gli appassionati di cavalli in cui spettacolo, emozioni, qualità, valenza tecnica e strategica saranno concentrati in un’unica appassionante giornata. 
Tra le gare in programma, dalle ore 13.45, il Premio Roma, il premio dedicato a Lydia Tesio, il Ribot-Memorial Luciani, il Guido Berardelli sui 1800 metri, il Carlo e Franco Aloisi sui 1200 in pista dritta, Il Divino Amore, il Livermore e il Longines Fegentri, per i gentlemen.

MG1SW Magical (Ire) (Galileo {Ire}–Halfway to Heaven {Ire}, by Pivotal {GB}) was found to have an elevated temperature on Monday morning and will not travel to the Breeders’ Cup at Santa Anita, Racing Post reported. The Coolmore runner, who was one of the stars pre-entered in the GI Breeders’ Cup Filly & Mare Turf, won the G1 QIPCO Champion S. last out Oct. 19. Officially retired, she will visit Coolmore’s No Nay Never (Scat Daddy) next year.

“Magical spiked a slight temperature this morning so she hasn’t travelled to America,” Aidan O’Brien told Racing Post of the English and Irish highweight. “She worked this morning and we were delighted with her but we take their temperatures every day. She was due to leave at 9:30 a.m. and this happened at around 9:15 a.m., so our vet John Halley advised that she shouldn’t travel. She has been an unbelievable filly. She was so game, so consistent and so classy. It has been a pleasure and a privilege to have anything to do with her.”

Magical, second to Enable (GB) (Nathaniel {Ire}) in the 2018 GI Longines Breeders’ Cup Turf, landed three of her Group 1 wins this year, taking the Tattersalls Gold Cup, Irish Champion S. and the aforementioned Champion S. during a busy nine-start season. She also played the bridesmaid in the G1 Prince Of Wales’s S., G1 Coral-Eclipse S., and G1 Yorkshire Oaks, the second two once again to the Juddmonte colourbearer. As a sophomore, she won the G1 QIPCO British Champions Fillies & Mares S., and she was also Group 1-placed as a juvenile in the G1 Moyglare Stud S. The bay’s record stands at 9-21-6-0 with $4,321,653 in earnings.

Bred by Orpendale, Chelston & Wynatt, the 4-year-old is a full-sister to fellow champion and MG1SW Rhododendron (Ire) (Galileo {Ire}) who was second in both the G1 1000 Guineas and G1 Investec Oaks and GSW Flying the Flag (Ire) (Galileo {Ire}). Her dam, a MG1SW who scored at the Classic level in the G1 Irish 1000 Guineas, is out of the super producer Cassandra Go (Ire) (Indian Ridge {Ire}). This is also the family of MGISW Photo Call (Ire) (Galileo {Ire}) who sells as hip 166 at the upcoming Fasig-Tipton November Sale. (fonte : TDN)

 

 

KOREA : No Change In Juvenile Ranks as Save The World & Roller Blade Win Again

It’s as you were at the top of the Two-Year-Old rankings in Korea as the two races making up Seoul and Busan’s second-legs of the 2019 Juvenile Series ended with the same horses coming out on top.

At Busan we know that Save The World is a cut above the rest while at Seoul the only thing cleared up is that Roller Blade is just a bit better than Choegang Team at this stage with the personal battle between the pair of them now standing at 2-1 in Roller Blade’s favour.

Having comfortably won last month’s Gold Circle Trophy, Save The World was sent off a prohibitive 1.4 faovurite for the Breeders’ Cup Trial (Listed-1200M). He drew the widest gate, but it was no issue at all as he cruised away from his rivals in the home straight to record a six-length win over 2nd placed Doctor Carson with Man Of The Field a further three lengths back in 3rd.

It was a fourth win in four starts for Save The World and he’s done it unhurried by a 21-length total margin. He’s crying out for a challenge and for that he’s going to need to face the best from Seoul.

In the Capital, the NACF Chairman’s Trophy (Listed-1200M) also went the same way as the 1st leg of the Juvenile Series, the Munhwa Ilbo Cup, as Roller Blade once more kept Choegang Team at bay for a comfortable score.

In both races Choegang Team was sent off as favourite having beaten Roller Brade in the Breeze-Up Grads race in August. While Choegang Team was wide the whole way around in the Munhwa, this time Moon Se Young managed to find the rail behind Roller Blade but his colt had no answer in the home straight.

Just as in the Munhwa, KN Road came home in 3rd place – though much closer this time – while a newcomer to the Series, Choin Gangja, finished a promising 4th.

So the Series will finally come together at Busan on the first Sunday in December for the Breeders’ Cup. For now Save The World and Roller Blade head there as favourites with the former having home track advantage. Plenty can change with the juveniles over the course of a month though.

In other action across the past weekend, we really need to talk about East Palos – not something we expected to need to do.

The concluding race of the weekend at Seoul was a class 1 handicap over 1400M with Global Captain, 7th in the Korea Sprint, sent off as favourite. He ran well as well under a good ride by Ham Wan Sik, but it was to no avail as East Palos was way too good, pulling away to win in what was the fastest time of the year for the distance at Seoul.

East Palos’s winning time of 1.24.0 was a full half-second quicker than the previous best which was set by…none other than East Palos. In fact, the only quicker time over the distance in Korea this year was set by Ace Korea on a soaking wet and fast track at Busan last week. With Sanggam Mama and his big rating present, East Palos was four points out of the scale and only carrying 52kg, but it was a remarkable performance nevertheless.

East Palos was ridden by Alan Munro, who was recording his third winner and the day and fourth across the weekend.

Next week sees one of the most valuable races of the year in the shape of the President’s Cup (KOR G1) at Seoul on Sunday. For the first time since 2014, there will be a new name on the Trophy with four-time winner Triple Nine absent. (fonte : Horse Racing Korea)
