Own-Brother To Ghaiyyath (Dubawi ex Nightime) To Headline Goffs November Foal Sale |
|
Goffs is delighted to announce that the own-brother to Group 1 winner Ghaiyyath will headline a top class catalogue for the 2019 Goffs November Foal Sale. Bred by Dermot Weld’s Springbank Way Stud, the March-born colt foal is by Dubawi out of the Irish 1000 Guineas winning Galileo mare Nightime.
Ghaiyyath (pictured) topped the November Foal Sale at Goffs in 2015 when selling for €1.1 million, the highest price ever for a colt foal in Ireland. Trained by Charlie Appleby for Godolphin, he went on to win the Group 3 Autumn Stakes at Newmarket as a two year old, and the following season won twice at Group level in France, including the Group 2 Prix d’Harcourt, as well as being placed in the Group 1 Prix Ganay. Ghaiyyath’s most impressive performance to date was his brilliant 14 length win in the Group 1 Grosser Preis von Baden at Baden Baden in September of this year.
This regally bred Dubawi colt foal is also a half-brother to Zhukova, who provided Dermot Weld with another major international training success when winning the Grade 1 Man O’War Stakes at Belmont in 2017 – the pinnacle of an impressive six black type victories for the mare.
Offered by The Castlebridge Consignment, the son of Dubawi and Nightime will head up a stellar foal catalogue with a world class sire profile that includes Dark Angel, Invincible Spirit, Kingman, Lope De Vega, and Sea The Stars amongst many others.
Commenting on the Dubawi colt out of Nightime, Goffs Group Chief Executive Henry Beeby said:
“Dermot Weld created history at Goffs when Ghaiyyath topped our November Foal Sale in 2015, setting a new record for a colt foal in Ireland as well as being Europe’s highest foal price that year. That Mr Weld is returning to Goffs with the own-brother this year is a wonderful endorsement of the November Sale and of the Goffs service. I saw the colt in the summer and can report that he is a stunner.
This Dubawi foal out of Nightime exemplifies the quality and potential on offer this year at Goffs November Sale. Fresh from a very successful Orby Sale, the Goffs marketing team and international agents are already working hard to promote the November Sale to pinhookers and international end-users alike”.
The Goffs November Foal Sale catalogue will be published and available online on Monday 14 October.
Goffs November Foal and Breeding Stock Sale will take place from 18 – 23 November 2019. |

CONTENDER PROFILE: MAXFIELD |
|
The visually impressive two-year-old colt has displayed a potent turn of foot to this stage of his development. He is by a Kentucky Derby-winning sire, and his broodmare sire was a Preakness Stakes (G1) hero, so going 1 ¼ miles in May at Churchill Downs should be right in his wheelhouse. |
