Group 2 Lowther Stakes winner Living In The Past heads Sportsman’s Sale double at York (Goffs)
Goffs Sportsman’s Sale enjoyed a double at York today headed by two-year-old Living In The Past who made all the running to win the Group 2 Sky Bet Lowther Stakes for trainer Karl Burke and owner Clipper Logistics.

The Bungle Inthejungle filly stepped up in class from her Group 3 placing last time out at Ascot and showed plenty of guts and speed on the Knavesmire today when leading home several black type winning fillies including Liberty Beach and Good Vibes.

Living In The Past was bred by Newlands House Stud and Patrick and Ann Marie Burns, and was sold by Newlands House Stud to Joe Foley for €65,000 at last year’s Sportsman’s Sale.  Her own-sister will be one of many highlights on offer at the 2019 Sportsman’s and is catalogued as Lot 588 consigned by Newlands House Stud.

Clipper Logistics, owners of Living In The Past, also sponsored the handicap two races later which went to another Sportsman’s graduate – the Keith Dalgleish trained What’s The Story.  The son of Harbour Watch was sold by The Castlebridge Consignment to Bobby O’Ryan and Keith Dalgleish.

This year’s Sportsman’s Sale will take place over two days from 3 – 4 October, immediately following the two day Orby Sale.  Catalogues are available to view online.

Siracusa Galoppo. Ritornano in pista le corse dei cavalli, venerdì 23 agosto. 

Ritorna, sulle piste dell’Ippodromo del Mediterraneo di Siracusa, il galoppo. Dopo quasi due mesi di stop, le competizioni con le corse dei cavalli sono in programma venerdì 23 agosto a partire dalle ore 17:35. Attendendo soprattutto il Premio Ascot, quarta corsa in programma, riservata a cavalli debuttanti di 2 anni impegnati sui 1400 metri della pista piccola. Nessun riferimento, solo voci di scuderie che accompagnano i buon lavori mattutini eseguiti specialmente da Freccia Rossa, da Havana Rock e da Panorama Fury. Questi, almeno, sembrerebbero i papabili alle piazze. Il montepremi di 11 mila euro è allettante quanto quello della condizionata prevista, invece, in terza corsa. Il Premio Deauville ha sette ottimi cavalli di 3 anni e oltre chiamati al confronto sui 1200 metri di pista piccola. Dorkhel, benché abbia perso il primato di imbattuto vincitore a Siracusa, resta l’avversario più temuto. Si attendono Comet Grey, Francisca Pink, la buona Geraldine che ha un peso allettante e per le piazze concorrono anche Leo Salsim e Royal Victory. Arduo, ma non impossibile, il ruolo di Bright Star.
