The Dublin Racing Festival at Leopardstown opened in tremendous style on Saturday as Commander Of Fleet, relishing the step up to 2m 6f, outbattled Rhinestone in a thrilling finish to the Grade 1 Nathaniel Lacy & Partners Novice Hurdle. Trained by Gordon Elliott for Gigginstown House Stud, Commander Of Fleet was sold at Goffs Land Rover Sale by Mount Eaton Stud to Margaret O’Toole for €47,000 and last April went on to win the €100,000 Goffs Land Rover Bumper at the Punchestown Festival. The five year old son of Fame And Glory looks set to head for either the Grade 1 Ballymore Novices’ Hurdle or the Albert Bartlett at the Cheltenham Festival next month. |

The Goffs-sponsored Handicap Chase at Leopardstown was also won by a Land Rover graduate, the Paul Nolan trained Quamino who was offered by Mocklershill Stables at the was offered by Mocklershill Stables at the 2016 Land Rover Sale. Goffs Land Rover Sale takes place from 11 – 12 June 2019. |

Showcasing Colt Tops Day 1 of February Sale at €120,000

A trio of six figure purchases were the highlight of Day 1 of the Goffs February Sale, a session dedicated to weanlings. Trickledown Stud provided the sales topper with their son of Showcasing, the first foal out of the Listed winner and Group placed mare Porthilly (Lot 248 – pictured above), that sold to Stauffenberg Bloodstock for €120,000. |

Tara Stud provided another of the stand outs of the day’s trade as their Lope De Vega filly (Lot 206 - pictured above) was knocked down to Cathy Grassick of Brian Grassick Bloodstock at €100,000. Out of a Stakes performer, the filly is a half-sister to the winner and Group placed Dream Mover as well as Listed winner Taper Tantrum. |

The first to reach the €100,000 mark was Ballintry Stud’s Sea The Stars colt out of the Champion Italian 2yo Fly On The Night (Lot 104A - above) who was bought by Avaz Ismoilov, one of his seven purchases today.
The February Sale continues tomorrow at 10am with a quality selection of two year olds, older horses and breeding stock.
