GAZWAN and THE BLUE EYE win their second HH The Emir’s Sword (Gr1PA) and HH The Emir’s Trophy (Gr1)
H.H THE EMIRS SWORD (GR1 PA) (Sponsored by Total)
H.H. Sheikh Mohammed Bin Khalifa Al Thani’s GAZWAN (Amer x Arc De Ciel) won the USD 1 million Purebred Arabian feature for the second time on the third and final day of H.H. The Emir’s Sword Festival at the QREC on Saturday. Unraced since his win in the Qatar Arabian World Cup in Chantilly, Gazwan, ridden by Cristian Demuro, was unmatched in pace once he got going coming off the final bend in the 2400m race. Olivier Peslier did have Umm Qarn’s Yazeed in pursuit on the straight, but couldn’t do much as the Julian Colin Smart ward built a healthy advantage closer to the post. At the post, a fast approaching EBRAZ (Amer x Massamarie), under Theo Bachelot, also edged out YAZEED (Munjiz x Al Dahma), who was running 2400m for the first time. This was Gazwan’s second straight win over Alban Elie Marie De Mieulle-trained Yazeed, who suffered his first defeat in Qatar this season.
