14/11/2017. Goffs. November Preview – Aga Khan Studs Highlights and Foals By Gleneagles

 
The Aga Khan Studs have always presented a high quality draft of mares at the Goffs November Breeding Stock Sale. Previous lots offered have gone on to produce Classic and Group 1 winners, headed in recent years by Hazariya, dam of dual Derby winner Harzand. This year the consignment features 27 fillies and mares from top families with potential to produce high class performers.

Highlights of these include Lot 903, ALIYFA (Spinning World), a Listed winning mare and dam of Listed winner ALVEENA. Aliyfa is out of ALIYA, a Listedwinner and half-sister to multiple Group 1 winner ALANDI, and Listed winner ALMELA. The family has strong black type on the page, with Champion 3yo ALAMSHAR under the second dam. Aliyfa is in foal to leading French sire, Siyouni.

Lot 905, EBALISTA (Selkirk) was a winner at 3 and is also offered in foal to Siyouni. She is a dam of 4 winners including Group 2 winner EBIYZA and Listed placed EBAYYA and EBEYINA, the latter who made €460,000 as a 4yo to Ballylinch Stud. Ebalista is out of the Champion filly EBADIYLA, and with Group 1 winner ESTIMATE from the family.

 
Offered one lot later, Lot 906 is a relative to Ebalista, ELBASANA (Indian Ridge). Dam of 4 winners including Group 3 winner EDELMIRA. Elbansana is out of multiple Listed winning dam EBAZIYA, and half-sister to Group 1 winners ENZELI, ESTIMATE, EBADIYLA and EDABIYA. Elbasana is in foal to Coolmore freshman Gleneagles.

Lot 907, KARAWANA (King’s Best) was a winner at 3 and is dam of KARAKTAR, sold for €110,000 to Winning Bloodstock Agency and is now a multiple Group 3 winner. Karawana is in foal to Vadamos.

Lot 909, TIMARWA (Daylami) is out of the Champion older mare TIMARIDA. She was a Group 3 winner at 3 and is the dam of TIMIYAN, who sold for €470,000 to Kieran McManus. Also from the family is Champion sprinter, MUHAARAR. She is offered in foal to New Bay.

The final lot of the first draft is Lot 910 KATIYRA (Peintre Celebre) who was a Group 2 winner and Group 1 placed. She is out of the multiple Listed winning dam KATIYKHA and half-sister to Group 3 winner KATANIYA. Katiyra is in foal to The Gurkha.

Later in Day One is the second draft featuring Lot 1018 related to sire AZAMOUR, and Lot 1019 and Lot 1020 related to HARZAND.

Coolmore Stud’s Gleneagles is another sought after first crop sire whose foals will be offered at Goffs. As a racehorse, Gleneagles was a top class miler and Champion at 2 and 3 winning four Group 1 events, including the Goffs Vincent O’Brien National Stakes at 2 and the St James’ Palace Stakes, Irish and English 2,000 Guineas as a 3yo. 9 foals have been catalogued.

First of the Gleneagles foals to be offered is Lot 489 (pictured), a colt consigned by Garranlea Stud. Out of the winning mare CONVOCATE, this is the third foal and is a half-brother to a 2yo by Camelot and a yearling filly by Australia. The second dam, PRIVATE LINE, is multiple Listed placed and has produced Group 3 winner DANCE DRESS, dam of Grade 2 winner COSTUME in USA.

Lot 578 (pictured) is a filly consigned by Grenane House Stud out of Miss Lacey. Half-sister to this lot is BURKE’S ROCK (Cape Cross) who is a Listedwinner. The Showcasing yearling was sold for €130,000 to Richard Knight Bloodstock and the 2yo by Iffraaj was sold for 135,000gns to GPC Bloodstock. Also in the family is multiple Group 2 winner HALICARNASSUS.

Baroda and Colbinstown Stud offer a colt, Lot 592 (pictured), out of Group placed NOBILIS. This is the third foal of the dam, who has a 2yo by Giant’s Causeway and a yearling colt by Australia. This is the family of sires INTENSE FOCUS and SHOLOKHOV, as well as Champion SOLDIER OF FORTUNE.

Catalogued straight after is Lot 593, consigned by Ballylinch Stud. This is the first foal out of the Group 2 placed mare, ONE CHANCE and is from the family of Champions SPINNING WORLD and PATHFORK.

Lot 633 is a filly out of the winning mare SOGNO VERDE. Consigned by Swordlestown Little this lot is a half-sister to Group 2 winner and sire, LILBOURNE LAD. Half-brother BLUEBELL (Mastercraftsman) was sold for €200,000 to Tim Hyde and is Listed placed. The 2yo by Galileo was sold as a foal for €475,000 to Hunday and is currently in training in Japan, while the 4yo NOTTE ILLUMINATA (Acclamation) was sold as a foal for €360,000 to John Ferguson Bloodstock.

Limekiln Stud offer Lot 660 (pictured), a colt out of Listed winning mare WAVEBAND who is the own sister to BUNGLE INTHEJUNGLE. This colt is also from the family of progressive sprinter and Group 1 winner MUARRAB. The half-sister SALLAB (Havana Gold) is a winner at 2 and sold as a yearling for 200,000gns to Al Shaqab Racing and Peter & Ross Doyle Bloodstock. ARCHIMEDES (Invincible Spirit) was sold as a yearling to Hugo Merry Bloodstock for €240,000.

Consigned by Castletown Stud, Lot 683 (pictured) is out of the winning mare BORA BLUES. This is the family of Champion filly BORGIA and Group 1winner BALTIC BARONESS and Group 3 winner BERMUDA REEF.

Lot 686 (pictured) is a colt offered by Milestream Stud out of the mare BRATISLAVA. This colt is half-brother to the multiple Listed winner KATLA and from the family of Champion 2yo WOOTTON BASSETT. The yearling colt by Invincible Spirit sold for €300,000 to BBA Ireland.

One of the final lots to be offered on Wednesday is Lot 734 (pictured), a colt consigned by Knockainey Stud. This is the fourth foal out of the winning mare FOUR ELEVEN, with a 2yo by Kodiac and a yearling by Charm Spirit. This is the family of Group 3 winner SUMMERTIME LEGACY, dam of Group 1winners MANDAEAN and WAVERING.
