Caravaggio, Churchill and Highland Reel form a trio of top-class recruits to Coolmore Stud, as the farm released 2018 covering fees for its roster in Ireland.

All three have been trained by Aidan O’Brien to win elite races, with Caravaggio, who will stand at a fee of €35,000, winning the Phoenix Stakes at two and the Commonwealth Cup at Royal Ascot this year.

As a son of Scat Daddy, Caravaggio represents a vital outcross for the Sadler’s Wells and Galileo mares on Coolmore’s books.

Fees for dual Guineas hero Churchill and prolific Group/Grade 1 winner Highland Reel have yet to be announced. They both hold entries at the Breeders’ Cup at Del Mar this weekend, with Highland Reel vying for favouritism with Ulysses in the Turf.

Fastnet Rock, whose fee has been kept private in the northern hemisphere since 2012, will be offered to breeders at a fee of €70,000. The 16-year-old was last advertised publicly in Ireland at a fee of €30,000 in 2011.

Fastnet Rock supplied his first European Group 1 winner this year when Laganore landed the Premio Lydia Tesio at Rome on Sunday. She is one of 29 top-flight winners for the son of Danehill.

No Nay Never, a son of Scat Daddy whose first yearlings commanded prices of up to 850,000gns at Book 1 of Tattersalls this year, has had his fee raised from €17,500 to €25,000.

Zoffany has had his fee reduced by €10,000 to €25,000, while Camelot and War Command are the other sires whose prices have been cut. Perennial champion sire Galileo remains private.

“We are delighted to have three very exciting new prospects for the coming season and are very much looking forward to seeing Churchill and Highland Reel run at the Breeders’ Cup on Saturday,” said David O’Loughlin, director of sales.

“Mindful of the fact that breeders are keen to get on with their mating plans, we have set the fees for all of the others including Scat Daddy’s brilliantly fast son Caravaggio and we think they offer excellent value for money.”
