GOFFS: Group 1 Lockinge Success For Orby Graduate Ribchester |
Goffs Orby Sale enjoyed more Group 1 success at Newbury on Saturday as Ribchester made all to land the Group 1 Al Shaqab Lockinge Stakes in some style, providing Godolphin with a fourth win in the race in five years. Described by Richard Fahey as “the best horse I’ve ever trained”, the four year old son of Iffraaj won the Group 1 Prix Jacques Le Marois at Deauville last August and was placed twice at Group 1 level prior to Saturday’s Lockinge victory. Ribchester’s connections will hope to make a winning return to Royal Ascot next month as he goes to the Queen Anne Stakes. Ribchester was sold at the 2014 Orby Sale by the Irish National Stud for €105,000 to Highfield Farm. He was also sold as a foal at Goffs November Sale by Kilmore Stud to Jamie Railton Bloodstock.
