Indiscutibilmente la star del Book 1 di Tattersalls è stato Dubawi (Dubai Millennium) che ha cominciato e finito con 2 top price da £2,6 milioni, l’ultimo dei quali acquistato da Angus Gold per Sheikh Hamdan di Shadwell, il fratello di Sheikh Mohammed che invece aveva comprato il primo top price di cui abbiamo parlato qualche giorno fa. Per il sire Darley, i cui prezzi sono un pò inflazionati dai petroldollari, i numeri parlano di 15 prodotti venduti per complessivi £14,590,000, ogni suo figlio ad una media di £972,667, di cui 4 presenti nella tabella dei 10 prezzi più alti. Tirando le somme dei 3 giorni, sono stati offerti 493 cavalli del book 1, di cui 386 venduti, 14 in più del 2015, che hanno realizzato un fatturato di £88,038,000, un +6%, con una media di £228,078 (+3%) ed il mediano a £130,000 con un valore al ribasso del 13%.

A livello di Top price alla fine, come anticipato, i prezzi più alti sono stati 2 figli di Dubawi. Del prodotto di Fallen For You abbiamo detto (CLICCARE QUI PER LEGGERE IL POST IN CUI SI PARLA DEI PRIMI GIORNI), resta da dire del Lot 427 da Dubawi e Zee Zee Top (Zafonic), acquistato da Shadwell con Roger Varian underbidder. Si tratta di un rappresentante di una famiglia molto rovente nel periodo e di campioni. Mercoledì a Nottingham ha infatti debuttato tale Dreamfield (Oasis Dream e Izzi Top, figlia di Zee Zee Top), per Godolphin e John Gosden, che ha impressionato vincendo di 10 al debutto. IL VIDEO QUI. La famiglia è quella di Opera House e Kayf Tara, ma in generale sia Zee Zee che Izzy hanno vinto a livello di G1.

Fervono i preparativi per una delle domeniche più attese in Italia, quella del 23 Ottobre quando si correranno il Lydia Tesio G1 ed il Premio Ribot G3 in memoria di Loreto Luciani. Nella giornata di giovedì si sono chiusi i giochi per quanto riguarda le iscrizioni al G1 sui 2000 metri, salvo eventuali supplementazioni che arriveranno più avanti. Ad una prima lettura figurano 22 iscritte di cui la metà sono straniere. Dall’Inghilterra ci sono Blond Me(Tamayuz), di proprietà di Barbara Keller vincitrice lo scorso anno con Odeliz(nella foto), poi Dawn Of Hope (Mastercraftsman) e Persona Grata (Sir Percy). Dall’Irlanda iscritte Laganore (Fastnet Rock) e Santa Monica (Mastecraftsman), mentre dalla Francia Powder Snow (Dubawi), Thank You Bye Bye (Zanzibari) e soprattutto Zghorta Dance (Le Havre) per Jean Claude Rouget, che ha fatto le Classiche francesi. Dalla Germania iscritte Meliora (Starspangledbanner), ed ha linea con Persona Grata, e correrà il Verziere G3 domenica a Milano per tastare il polso delle nostre. Poi la buona Parvaneh (Holy Roman Emperor) piazzata di G1 in Germania, e la piazzata Classica Sarandia (Dansili) per il Gestut Fahrhof.

Rhododendron delivers O’Brien another Group 1

AIDAN O’BRIEN’S extraordinary run at Newmarket continued as Rhododendron defeated stablemate Hydrangea to hand him a one-two in the Dubai Fillies’ Mile on Friday.

Having already taken the Group 1 Cheveley Park Stakes and Group 1 Sun Chariot Stakes in previous weeks, the master of Ballydoyle returned to plunder yet more riches at the home of British Flat racing, with the winner the subject of sustained market support in the build-up to the off.

Sent off the 5-2 joint-favourite under Ryan Moore, Rhododendron barely had a moment’s worry as she scooted clear of her rivals to deliver another remarkable result for her trainer, less than a week after his historic Arc one-two-three.

O’Brien admitted he was left puzzled by Rhododendron’s third in last month’s Moyglare Stud Stakes and said: “She’s a very good filly and she has really progressed. She seemed to travel very well and I don’t think she was stopping at the line.

“We were a little confused with her Moyglare run as we thought she was a little better than the other filly [Hydrangea], but this just goes to show what a good race the Moyglare was.”

Hydrangea was ultimately beaten two and a quarter lengths, with a break of six back to the third-placed Urban Fox and O’Brien suggested both of his fillies could be on their travels before the end of the year.

“We knew they were progressing. It was just about the rate they were progressing at,” he said. “Both fillies are in a good place, so the Breeders’ Cup would be an option if the lads wanted to do that.”

Hydrangea’s jockey Seamie Heffernan added: “It’s important for these fillies to run in Group 1s in England and Hydrangea has run a solid race out there.

“She’ll be a nice filly next year when she’ll stay a mile and a quarter.”

Rhododendron is now William Hill’s 9-2 favourite for next year’s Qipco 1,000 Guineas, with Paddy Power bigger at 5-1.

Tate joy

Equally delighted was James Tate, trainer of Urban Fox, who said: “It’s marvelous that she has finished third in a Group 1 as she only cost 10,000 guineas as a yearling.

“She could run in the Listed Montrose Stakes here at the end of the month or else we’ll put her away.”
