€1.4 Million Tops First Part of Wildenstein Dispersal at Goffs

A sale topping €1.4 million was the highlight of Part 1 of the much anticipated Wildenstein Stables Ltd. Dispersal which took place in front of a huge international audience at Goffs yesterday evening. 17 impeccably bred yearlings finished a very successful Orby Sale, which saw figures rise with increases in turnover, average and median, and they were followed by 41 Horses-in-training, all of which were offered without reserve.

It was no surprise therefore that in the buzz of a full auditorium packed with potential purchasers from around the world, and an atmosphere filled with expectation, that the Wildenstein Dispersal was the centre of attention and the focus of another spectacular evening at Goffs.

The first of some of the most impressively bred thoroughbreds to grace the sales arena were the 17 yearlings and the star of the show was the last of the Wildenstein yearlings to be offered.

Impeccably bred, Lot 472 was a colt by Darley Stud’s Dubawi and the first foal out of Classic Winner Beauty Parlour, and he did not disappoint. A bidding duel ensued with Sheikh Mohammed’s representative, John Ferguson, coming out on top and purchasing the colt for €1,400,000.

One of the earliest to reach a six figure sum was Lot 456, a filly by Teofilo from a stunning family of Champions such as Loup Sauvage and Loup Soilitaire, knocked down to Shadwell Estates for €120,000. 

As the sire of two fillies from particularly strong families, Dansili provided some high prices with a filly out of Group 1 Prix Maurice de Gheest winner Porlezza going to White Birch Farm for €360,000 (Lot 461), and a filly out of Stakes winner Bastet and sister to Group 1 Poule d’Essai des Pouliches winner Beauty Parlour selling to Elwick Stud & Peter Nolan Bloodstock for €270,000 (Lot 471).

Next into the ring were the 41 horses-in-training and leading the way was Pavini (Lot 478), a daughter of Dubawi from the family of Peinture Celebre out of Group 2 Prix de Pomone winner Peinture Rare, selling to White Birch Farm for €600,000.

White Birch Farm were active again purchasing the good looking Dansili colt Achibueno (Lot 493) for €300,000 while the Pivotal filly, Bengala (Lot 498), out of Champion and Group 1 Prix de Diane and Prix de l’Opera winner Bright Sky achieved €350,000 to US based agent Patrick Lawley-Wakelin.

This six figure sums continued as first time visitor Alan Quartucci from the USA went to €270,000 for Asterina (Lot 511), a winning son of Dalakhani out of an own sister to Stakes winner Andromeda Galaxy. Northshore Bloodstock gave €150,000 for Parauari (Lot 477) a winning colt by Lawman from the family of Champion Protectionist. Ballylinch Stud enjoyed a successful Orby sale as one of the top three consignors and parted with €140,000 for Special Gal (Lot 485) by Galileo from the family of Stakes winners Sahrawi and Sarrasin.

There was a real International feel to this year’s Orby sale and it was wonderful to welcome purchasers from all over the world. Eugenio Colombo was one of a number of first time visitors to Goffs from the USA and made two purchases from the Wildenstein Dispersal, Almada (Lot 494) a filly by Lonhro from the family of Champion mare Aquarelliste and Andira (Lot 495) by Elusive Quality out of the Stakes winning Peintre Celebre mare Andromeda Galaxy.

Beauty Parlour is in foal to Kingman and will be offered at Goffs at the November Sale, she is among a number of magnificent breeding prospects to be offered from the Wildenstein Dispersal along with some exciting foals.

Vibrant Orby Topped By €1.4 million Dubawi Colt From Wildenstein Stables Ltd Dispersal

John Ferguson’s purchase of the Dubawi colt out of Group 1 Poule d’Essai des Pouliches winner Beauty Parlour from the Wildenstein Stables Ltd Dispersal (Lot 472) for €1.4 million topped a vibrant renewal of the Goffs Orby Sale that saw increases in turnover, average and median and a clearance rate of 84% across the two days.  

An early highlight of today’s trade was the New Approach sister to Group 1 performers Cuis Ghaire and Scintillula from Jim Bolger’s Redmondstown Stud (Lot 250) purchased by Peter & Ross Doyle Bloodstock for €675,000.  Mountarmstrong Stud’s Shamardal filly out of the five time Group 1 winning champion race mare Alexander Goldrun (Lot 358) was another stand-out, selling to Japanese owner Koji Maeda for €600,000.  First time visitor to Goffs Justin Zayat meanwhile purchased four at the Orby  headed by a son of Declaration Of War out of a Listed winning daughter of Irish 1000 Guineas winner Nightime (Lot 272) from The Castlebridge Consignment for €475,000.
