America: #Exaggerator asfalta #Nyquist nell’Haskell Invitational sul fango. American Cleopatra debutto con vittoria a Del Mar

 
 
 
“Quando l’ho chiamato, è esploso in una azione dirompente”. Così ha commentato entusiasta Kent Desormeaux al rientro dalla vittoria con Exaggerator (Curlin) nell’Haskell Invitational G1 di Monmouth Park sotto una pioggia battente ed una sabbia diventata molto insidiosa e scivolosa. Il campione delle Preakness Stakes G1 ha confermato quella vittoria tenendo a bada l’atteso Nyquist (Uncle Mo), che lo aveva battuto a Churchill Downs, ma che lo aveva subito proprio a Pimlico. Sebbene Exaggerator fosse reduce da una brutta prestazione nelle Belmont Stakes, bypassate da Nyquist, dopo un breve periodo di stop è apparso molto più tonico e capace di reagire dopo corsa abbastanza svelta che ha visto American Freedom(Pulpit) pressare proprio Nyquist in avanti, facendolo capitolare nella seconda parte di gara con conseguenza che questo perdesse anche il terzo, ma con un Exaggerator apparso davvero esagerato. I parziali sono scivolati via in :22.78 con il mezzo miglio in :46.62, i 1200 metri in 1m 11s, ed il miglio passato in 1:35.96, una misura buonissima, con il tempo finale in 1m 48,7s. Per Ex era la sesta vittoria, condita con 3 secondi e 1 terzo in 13 uscite, Tornerà a correre a Saratoga il primo Agosto, in preparazione dell’obiettivo dell’estate, e cioè le Travers Stakes G1 del 27 Agosto, il cimitero dei campioni. IL RISULTATO COMPLETO QUI. IL VIDEO DELL’HASKELL QUI.

Francia e Germania: #Qemah domina anche il Prix Rothschild, terzo Umbertino. A Monaco Frankie Dettori vince il suo 570° GP.

 
 
 
Un weekend intenso al massimo livello. In Francia si è corso il Prix Rothschild G1 come primo G1 di un Agosto che sarà intensissimo. Il programma prevede che la prossima settimana si correrà il Maurice De Gheest G1, poi il Jacques Le Marois G1 il 14, mentre il 21 si correranno il Morny G1 ed il Jean Romanet G1. 
Ieri ci ha pensato Qemah (Danehill Dancer) a colmare la prima casella disponibile, replicando alla sfavillante affermazione nelle Coronation Stakes G1 di metà Giugno al Royal Ascot. La portacolori della Al Shaqab, montata da Gregory Benoist, ha preso la scia giusta ed ha risolto con gran bel cambio di marcia, confermando le aspettative di un Jean Claude Rouget rovente nella stagione. Battuta Volta (Siyouni) con al terzo posto a sorpresa Steip Amach(Vocalised), con un Umberto Rispoli ancora una volta bravissimo a capitalizzare qualsiasi minima chance gli venga concessa. Male semmai è andata Alice Springs (Galileo), fermata a palo lontano o quasi, vittima di un piccolo contrattempo che andrà risolto. Si tratta di una controprestazione, per lei. La vincitrice ora punterà alle Matron Stakes G1 del 10 Settembre a Leopardstown. Per Qemah era la seconda vittoria in G1 dopo le Coronation, ma reduce dal terzo nelle Poule d’Essai des Pouliches G1 alle spalle de La Cressonniere, la quale ora è in lizza per il titolo di miglior 3 anni femmina insieme con Minding. Anzi, giriamo a voi la domanda: Qual è la migliore delle 2? In Germania invece Frankie Dettori, sempre a meno 5 dalla soglia delle 3000 vittorie in Gran Bretagna, ha vinto una corsa impossibile da vincere in sella ad Elliptique (New Approach) nel Grosser Dallmayr-Preis G1, capitalizzando un percorso tutt’altro che fortunato, e spingendo il suo fino alla vittoria da una posizione difficilissima. Per il 5 anni era la quinta vittoria in carriera, la prima per la famiglia Rotschild in Germania, mentre la numero 570 a livello di Gruppo per Frankie Dettori, sempre più evergreen. IL VIDEO QUI. RISULTATO QUI. Giappone: Mirco Demuro vince in G3 a Niigata (81 in stagione), Dario Vargiu sigillo a Kokura

 
Doppio italiano ieri in Giappone, in termini di forza lavoro. A Niigata Mirco Demuro ha ottenuto la sua vittoria numero 81 in stagione in sella a Bel Canto (Sakura Bakushin O) nell’Ibis Summer Dash sui 1000 metri per Koiki Tsunoda ed i colori della North Hills. IL VIDEO DELLA CORSA QUI. Per Mirco si tratta di una vittoria che lo ha di fatto lasciato stabile in terza posizione nella classifica del circuito JRA. 
Dario Vargiu invece ha inaugurato la sua ultima parte di licenza temporanea, che durerà 5 weekend, con una vittoria a Kokura dopo un paio di piazzamenti in giornata. L’affermazione è arrivata in sella a Lavender Valley (Deep Impact) per Hideaki Fujiwara, in una prova sui 1200 metri in erba. VIDEO VITTORIA QUI.
 
 
 

Big Orange coming clear to defend his Goodwood Cup

Irish St Leger favoured for Big Orange

It is a case of weight and see for Big Orange and any Emirates Melbourne Cup bid in November but America and Canada have been ruled out for the dual Goodwood Cup winner.

Next up for the five-year-old could be the Irish St Leger in September before owner Bill Gredley and trainer Michael Bell assess the Australian handicapper’s weight allotment for the Flemington feature in November.

Bell said: “We will be waiting for the weights for the Melbourne Cup. Mr Gredley is lukewarm about making that long trip if Big Orange gets a prohibitive weight.

“The bottom weight won the race last year and it is difficult to give weight away in such a tough race – look at Snow Sky last year.”

Bell also has his eye on the future for the well-named five-year-old who has progressed physically and on the formbook with another year under his belt.

Qipco Champions day option

If Big Orange missed Melbourne the plan would include the Qipco Champions Stayers race in October ahead of a trip to Dubai over the winter.

Bell added: “Don’t forget he didn’t run in the Ascot Gold Cup this year because of the rain and there is talk of a raising of the Goodwood Cup prizemoney as well next year – there is lots to look forward to domestically next year.”

Gredley and Bell are looking further afield with their other Goodwood winner Franklin D, whose name is branded into bookmakers’ skins after he became the shortest-priced winner of the Betfred Mile last Friday.

Topkapi Trophy target

Reassured by the International Racing Bureau that racing was not under threat from the recent failed coup in Turkey the plan is for Franklin D to run in the Group 2 Topkapi Mile won by Toormore last year.

Bell added: “He is going to have an entry in that big mile race on September 4. He is rated 109 and is not going to go down for the win so it has to be pattern races next for him.”

As to Franklin D being sent of 7-4 favourite in one of the traditionally hardest heritage handicaps of the year Bell said he was sure he would be favourite but not as startlingly short a price.

“After all being 13lb higher in future there was no other horse so well treated apart from Celestial Path but he was drawn in Surrey. Ryan (Moore) was leading jockey and he had stall one.”
