EDITORIAL: ROYAL ASCOT CONCLUDES AS FRENCH FILLY IS CROWNED
Royal Ascot’s final day finished with great festivities as HRH The Queen, had a winner at the meeting and was visibily thrilled and relieved to win the contest after the objection kept her waiting. The Sprint fanatics saw a blanket finish in the Diamond Jubilee whilst in France on Sunday a new Queen was crowned in the Prix de Diane.
The winter season continued at Scottsville with the Track and Ball day whilst in Hong Kong, a track record fell.
On that subject, Douglas Whyte, the South African star based in Hong Kong, will finally have a July mount after he was confirmed on a Snaith runner. All and more in this edition.

PRIX DE DIANE GOES TO LA CRESSONNIERE
Jean-Claude Rouget continued his fantastic campaign as La Cressonniere claimed a brilliant victory in the Prix de Diane at Chantilly.

SAF: TRACK AND BALL DERBY (Grade 3) – CAPE SPEED sees out the extra to take the Derby
Cape Town trainer, Dean Kannemeyer, who kept a string in KZN after the end of last season, has paid rich dividends as the yard captured another feature race. The three year old son of IDEAL WORLD, was well ridden by jockey Anthony Delpech as he moved him up around the back straight to improve his position and put CAPE SPEED within touching distance when they turned for home. The IDEAL WORLD progeny have been performing well, especially over the stamina distances. READ MORE

WITCHCRAFT, the three year old daughter of KAHAL showed that she has the stamina to see out the oaks/derby distance when she led from start to finish to take the Grade 3 Track and Ball Oaks. Starting unfancied at 25/1, she had not shown over any distance over 2000m.
