America: American Pharoah correrà le Travers Stakes G1 di Saratoga sabato 29 Agosto! Dotazione a $1,6 milioni..

 

Ora è ufficiale. L’eroe della triple crown American Pharoah (Pioneerof The Nile) correrà le Travers Stakes G1 sui 2000 metri di Saratoga (per cavalli di 3 anni) sabato prossimo, il 29 Agosto. Lo ha confermato Ahmed Zayat parlando della sua super star dopo un lavoro monstre a Del Mar domenica scorsa nel quale il 3 anni ha breezato in maniera eccezionale, di fronte a 2000 persone accorse solo per vedere il suo esercizio nel quale ha completato il miglio in 1m 36,4s. 

 

American Pharoah, vincitore di Kentucky Derby, Preakness Stakes e Belmont Stakes G1 un fottio di anni dopo Affirmed che completò il trittico nel 1978, ha lasciato soddisfattissimo anche il suo allenatore Bob Baffert il quale ai microfoni di Blood-Horse ha descritto il suo come “incredible horse”. IL LAVORO SOSTENUTO CLICCANDO QUI.

 

American Pharoah sarebbe il quarto Triple Crown a tentare di vincere le Travers. Molti sono caduti ma l’unico ad esserci riuscito è stato Whirlaway nel 1941. Saratoga infatti è definito, un pò come York e le sue Juddmonte International, il ‘graveyard of champions’, cioè il cimitero dei campioni perchè qui non sono riusciti a vincere cavalli come Secretariat e Man ‘o War. La dotazione delle Travers è attualmente di  $1,25 milioni, ma se American realmente partirà la dotazione diventerà automaticamente di $1.6 milioni aumentando di $350,000. Sono attese circa 50,000 persone.

Intanto tra i candidati a prendere lo scalpo di American Pharoah si è proposta la campionessa Beholder (Henny Hughes), 5 anni, allenata da Richard E Mandella che nella sua ultima uscita di un paio di giorni fa ha vinto in canter il Pacific Classic G1 per 8 lunghezze e mezzo di margine. Lo scontro, verosimilmente, arriverà nella Breeders’ Cup Classic G1 che si disputerà a Keeneland il 31 Ottobre prossimo, in una edizione delle Breeders in generale che si correranno tra il 30 ed il 31 Ottobre, appunto.

Treve on track in pursuit of historic third Arc 

TREVE, the reigning queen of Longchamp, was in excellent form on les Aigles on Tuesday morning under Thierry Jarnet, leaving trainer Criquette Head-Maarek beaming after the dual Arc heroine’s first serious piece of work back on the grass after a summer break.

“She was fresh and the leader couldn’t go fast enough for her,” said Head-Maarek. “But it’s perfect because there are still two more days to come – next Tuesday and the Tuesday before the Vermeille. The real work will be next Tuesday with more lead horses.”

Having been restricted to cantering on Chantilly’s all-weather since returning to training earlier this month, Treve did a light breeze on the grass last Thursday.

Jarnet was aboard even for that and, with potential history in the making, is set to play a much bigger part in Treve’s work.

“Thierry thinks she has improved a lot from last week,” said Head-Maarek. “She hasn’t lost that acceleration and she was waiting to be asked to go. She is in top form and let’s keep our fingers crossed that stays the same until the race.”

Treve, who is on course to seek an unprecedented third success in Europe’s most valuable race, the Qatar-backed Arc, in early October, is likely to face Sea Calisi in the Vermeille, the Francois Doumen-trained filly who was third in the Yorkshire Oaks last week.

Treve is clear favourite for the Arc at a best-priced 2-1.
