Lady Of Dubai impresses in Oaks trial

The daughter of Dubawi, from the family of St Leger hero Millenary, was confidently ridden by Adam Kirby and settled beautifully in midfield.

She cruised to the front inside the final two furlongs and shot clear to record a three-and-a-quarter length victory over Encore L’Amour with Jellicle Ball third.

Snow Fairy was the last filly in 2010 to complete the Height of Fashion-Oaks double and quotes for the Epsom Classic followed forLady Of Dubai, who is trained by Luca Cumani and runs in the colours of Sheikh Mohammed Obaid Al Maktoum.

Ladbrokes make her 10-1 (from 25), while Betfred and William Hill are 14-1 (from 40). Coral went 12-1 (from 33).

“They didn’t go much of a gallop and she took me into the race easily,” said Kirby in his first season as retained rider to Lady Of Dubai’s owner.

“I was very impressed with the way she quickened up.

“She is everything you would want in a filly. She has got the class and is a well-balanced filly. I can’t see why she shouldn’t go for the Oaks, but her connections will be discussing that.”
