Una virago! Taghrooda (Sea The Stars) ha sbaragliato il campo delle King George Vi & Queen Elizabeth Stakes G1 dominando il campo e mettendo tra se ed il secondo almeno una categoria abbondante. Non è discorso di 3 anni contro gli anziani o di generazioni, Taghrooda ha dimostrato di appartenere alla lega di quelle come Dahlia, insieme a Pawneese l’ultima 3 anni a vincere le King George e prima ancora le Oaks. Non accadeva da oltre 30 anni! La femmina che sembra un maschio ha vinto colpendo di soppiatto nel momento in cui doveva, andando in percussione sui primi ai 400, producendo una progressione notevole, spezzando le reni a Telescope e vincendo per proprio conto. Stagione dorata per Hamdan Al Maktoum, alla seconda affermazione nelle King George dopo Time Charter nel 1983, qualsiasi cosa tocca diventa oro, che aveva voluto osare con una cavalla di 3 anni, imbattuta in 3 uscite (ora in 4) e che ben presto concluderà la stagione ed entrerà in razza. La figlia di Sea The Stars (Cape Cross) (che annata per lo stallone di casa Tsui, mezzo fratello di Galileo), ha seguito dal fondo del gruppo (proprio come correva di Dahlia) e grazie ad un compito eseguito alla perfezione da Leitir Morha approfittato dell’attacco di Mukhadram e Telescope, per metterli nel mirino, agganciarli e superarli di slancio. Davvero una impressione incredibile per la cavalla allenata da John Gosden, montata con confidenza da Paul Hanagan e decisione impeccabile quella dell’entourage di osare le King George anzichè puntare sulle più semplici Irish Oaks. La misura della prestazione sta nella progressione prodotta dalle retrovie per andare a prendere i primi e finire, apparentemente, con del buono in mano. Incredibile, o quasi! 
 
 
A proposito di Gosden, va menzionato il 4° posto del supplementato Eagle Top (Pivotal), montato forse con troppa cautela da parte di William Buick e finito comunque in gas nonostante non potesse più aspirare ad una posizione migliore di quella ottenuta. Da rivedere. A lunghezze tutti gli altri.

Star filly Taghrooda trimmed again for Arc

IMPRESSIVE King George VI and Queen Elzabeth Stakes winner Taghrooda was cut again for the Qatar Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe on Sunday with Paddy Power making her their 9-2 favourite.

The unbeaten Oaks heroine, who is trained by John Gosden for Hamdan Al Maktoum, heads the betting for Europe’s richest race after proving too good for some classy rivals in Saturday’s King George at Ascot.

Most firms make Taghrooda, who was 12-1 for the Arc before the King George, a 4-1 shot, but Ladbrokes and William Hill rate her at 3-1 and 7-2.

Paddy Power, who went 7-1 about the brilliant filly emulating her father Sea The Stars and winning the Arc immediately after Ascot’s midsummer highlight, are now 9-2 (from 6 then 5).

The firm’s spokesman Paddy Power said: “The hint from Sheikh Hamdan’s racing manager on Saturday that the owner might want to have a go at the Arc has been taken on board by punters, who have really got stuck into the filly.”

Sea The Moon, who bolted up in the German Derby, last year’s Arc winner Treve and two-time Classic winner Australia are next in the Arc betting at around 6-1.

Next month’s Darley Yorkshire Oaks at York could be the next race for Taghrooda before travelling to Paris for the Arc.
