Grade I winner Summer Soiree wrapped up her racing career by passing the $500,000 earnings plateau and adding to her grade I credentials with a third-place finish in the Matriarch Stakes (gr. IT) Nov. 25 at Betfair Hollywood Park. The 4-year-old daughter of War Front   is owned by Team Valor International (Barry Irwin, president) and is booked to Medaglia d’Oro   for the 2013 breeding season.

According to Team Valor, plans are for Summer Soiree to be offered at public auction next November.

Summer Soiree won three stakes and placed in four others. She captured the Del Mar Oaks (gr. IT), plus the Bourbonette Oaks (gr. III) by 10 3/4 lengths and the Boiling Springs Stakes (gr. IIIT) by 8 1/2 lengths. In addition to her third-place finish in the Matriarch, she ran second in last year’s Matriarch and was third in the 2012 Ballston Spa Stakes (gr. IIT) at Saratoga and the 2010 Blue Hen Stakes.

Trained by Graham Motion, Summer Soiree was retired with a record of 5-1-5 from 16 starts and earnings of $506,180.

Bred in Kentucky by Brereton and Bret Jones, Summer Soiree is out of the winning Mazel Trick mare Mazel Tov, a half sister to multiple graded stakes winner Mil Kilates.
