Here following what John Manley, owner of Trumpet Major, has said after the Craven Stakes.
“Yes, we are all over the moon after yesterday’s result in the Craven Stakes (Group 3). He gave the whole field 3lbs and a thorough beating. He won by 5 lengths and idled in front as racehorses sometimes do and Ryan Moore had to give him a couple of reminders. Richard Hannon left a bit on him for the 2000 Guineas on May 5th so he should show further improvement having had only one serious work out 10 days ago at Newbury. We are all excited. The jockey said he would get further to one mile and a quarter races and this would open up further opportunities later in the year. He also said he was twice the horse he was last year. The time was quite fast considering the ground (good to soft) which is not his preferred ground (good to firm). It would seem that we have no ground worries either way providing it is not very heavy. He is entered in the English, Irish, French and German 2000 Guineas”.
