Will Stradivarius take the Goodwood Cup?

It’s less than 24 hours to the start of the Qatar Goodwood Festival and the stage is set for one of the undisputed highlights of the British Flat racing season. The world-famous five-day festival, affectionately known as ‘Glorious Goodwood’, presents spellbinding sport and a social occasion like no other, where some of the greatest stars in horse racing are crowned with sporting favourites such as Stradivarius, Kyprios, Alcohol Free and many more set to race. There’s still time to enjoy the highlight of the summer season, with tickets available in advance or on the gate. Admission starts from £25 and under 18’s go free.
 

Can Alcohol Free defend her crown?

 

30 years on from Lochsong’s memorable victory in the 1992 Stewards Cup, hopes are high that Alcohol Free can give her owner Jeff Smith yet another big race success at the Qatar Goodwood Festival. 


Victorious in the race last year, the four-year-old filly will bid to become the first horse to defend her crown since Frankel 10 years ago.

Lifetime ambitions fulfilled in the Magnolia Cup

Just five years ago, O’Meara Rusike first sat on a horse in Zimbabwe, the start of her quest to become a jockey. This year she aims to fulfil a lifetime ambition to ride in the Markel Magnolia Cup at the Qatar Goodwood Festival.

THURSDAY 28 JULY

Play and picnic

The Lennox lawn is the ideal spot to enjoy a picnic, let the kids run wild on the playground, and with close-up views of the track, you can feel the wind rush as they gallop past you down the course to be first past the post.  

We also have a complimentary crèche available for children aged 5 and under, located next to the playground in the Lennox Enclosure, and under 18s go free!

Best Dressed

On 29 July, reacegoers are encouraged to dress in the signature blue and white colours of L’Ormarins for the chance to win a trip-of-a-lifetime to South Africa, as winner of the L’Ormarins Best Dressed competition.

Get closer to the action with our complimentary trips to the starting stalls for the second, fourth and sixth races. A mini-coach will depart from the bus terminus opposite the East Entrance 25 minutes before the start of the race.
