Jose Delmotte’s Haras d’Haspel had just one yearling in Part I of the sale, a Kingman filly, and she topped the first session at €950,000.
 
The day one average was €202,930 and the median €170,000. That is down 29% and 23%, respectively, from 2019, the last time this sale was staged in its traditional format. The clearance rate on Saturday was 72.2%.
 
The top nine lots were sired by seven different stallions, with Kingman responsible for three of the top nine.
 
U S Navy Flag provided the top price for a first-season sire at €200,000. Cracksman was at his heels at €190,000.
 
Thomas Lines and Ronan Kerdraon, who began investing in Thoroughbreds two years ago, bought two fillies by Galiway for a combined €600,000.
 
Godolphin was leading buyer on day one with three bought for €1.5-million.
 
After day one, Monceaux is in its typical place as leading vendor with 16 sold for €3,597,000.
