Milano San Siro Galoppo. Risultati riunione sabato 30 settembre 2017.

A Middle Park One-Two For War Front As U S Navy Flag Prevails

US Navy Flag | Racing Post
By Tom Frary
By no means the most expected of the Ballydoyle quartet, US Navy Flag nevertheless emerged on top as he fought off Fleet Review to provide his sire and stable with a notable one-two and a 20th group 1 success for Aidan O’Brien in 2018. During a year in which the stable has won several decent contests with supposed second-strings, the winner upstaged his G1 Phoenix S.-winning barnmate Sioux Nation (Scat Daddy) with shades of the 25-1 success of Crusade (Mr. Greeley) in 2011. Third in the Listed Marble Hill S. on yielding-to-soft over this trip at The Curragh May 27, the bay was 14th under hold-up tactics in the G2 Coventry S. on a much slicker surface June 20 before forcing tactics were employed as he broke his maiden in first-time blinkers back on easier going at The Curragh July 1. Stepping up to be 1 3/4-lengths second to Cardsharp in the G2 July S. on the other course July 13, he was fourth behind Sioux Nation in the Phoenix back on fast summer ground in Kildare Aug. 13 before winning by six lengths in the G3 Round Tower S. over the same track and trip a fortnight later.
Chased along from the break to lead the pack racing up the centre as Hey Jonesy (Ire) (Excelebration {Ire}) took them along, U S Navy Flag kicked to gain the overall lead passing the quarter pole as the leading fancies all tried to work their way into the race from behind. There was only Fleet Review to worry him as he exited the “dip”, but hard as Donnacha O’Brien tried to conjure a winning effort from that colt he was always holding him at bay as they pulled away from the winner’s July Course conqueror Cardsharp. The 7-2 favourite Beckford (GB) (Bated Breath {GB}) had no excuses and finished fifth. “It is no surprise that he ran well. I thought Ryan was the danger, but his horse is big and might be a little bit weak and this lad is out of a Galileo mare and that’s what kicked in,” Heffernan said. “He’s a horse that’s a bit gawky and looks around, so the blinkers help him focus and make the jockey’s job easier.”
Aidan O’Brien is considering running U S Navy Flag again this season. “This horse won very easily the last day. He is a very solid horse and he is a brother to Roly Poly. He is out of a Galileo mare and they just don’t give up. He takes his racing well and is progressing with every run. He is long and he is powerful. I think he will go down the sprinting route, but there is nothing to say he won’t get seven. He is a hardy horse that is progressing and when horses are like that, you can keep going with them if they want to go and I wouldn’t rule out the [Oct. 14 G1] Dewhurst with him. Seamie said he really wanted it and when he asked him, his head went out and down. It is great for everyone and there’s a lot of hard work by a great team of people.” Of Fleet Review, he added, “He ran a stormer. Donnacha wanted to ride him as he had won twice on him. He really came together. He has plenty of speed and he travelled well.”
Trainer Mark Johnston praised Cardsharp but at the same time was not convinced that he is trying his hardest. “It was another very good run. He was 14-1 which was a bit unfair as there was nothing in there that he hadn’t mixed it with before,” he said. “He has been placed in the Richmond, July Stakes, Gimcrack and now the Middle Park. Recently he has been extremely difficult beforehand. We have had him twice to the racecourse for practice sessions. It started at the July meeting and he has actually got steadily worse. The two worst ones have been here and the July meeting and he won there and was third today. I can’t say he is taking too much out of himself. It might be the opposite in fact that he is saving a bit for himself.”
U S Navy Flag becomes the third pattern-race and second group 1 winner from as many runners for Misty For Me, whose own four victories at this level included the Irish 1000 Guineas. Her first foal was the graded-stakes scorer Cover Song (Fastnet Rock {Aus}), who was followed by this year’s G1 Falmouth S. and G1 Prix Rothshild heroine Roly Poly who is another War Front on the smaller side. The second dam is the unraced Butterfly Cove, who also produced the G1 Prix Marcel Boussac heroine Ballydoyle (Ire) (Galileo {Ire}) and is a full-sister to the G3 1000 Guineas Trial S. scorer Kamarinskaya as well as being a half to the G1 Phoenix S. and G1 Prix Morny hero and sire Fasliyev. Their respective dam Mr. P’s Princess is in turn a half-sister to the multiple top-level scorers Desert Wine and Menifee who were both runner-up in the GI Kentucky Derby. Misty For Me’s yearling filly is also by War Front and she has a 2017 colt by the same sire again.

Churchill’s Sister Clemmie Takes the Cheveley Park

Clemmie | Racing Post
By Tom Frary
When the Coolmore contingent bought Airwave two years after her impressive win in this race in 2002, they were exercising that unerring foresight they are renowned for by tapping into a goldmine. While it took a while to excavate, it is now a fully-working reserve of high-class racing talent which was possibly only beginning to take off with the dual Guineas success of Churchill (Ire) (Galileo {Ire}) in May. Clemmie looked cut from the same cloth as her stablemate when putting up a highly encouraging debut effort in third over this trip at The Curragh May 27 and there was much to take out of her seventh behind Different League in the G3 Albany S. at Royal Ascot June 23. Beating Butterscotch (Ire) (Galileo {Ire}) with a degree of comfort in the July 2 G3 Grangecon Stud S. next time, the bay defeated Nyaleti (Ire) (Arch) on the July Course in the G2 Duchess of Cambridge S. here July 14 before enjoying a summer break.
Ryan Moore was due to ride Clemmie over Magical (Ire) (Galileo {Ire}), Happily (Ire) (Galileo {Ire}) and September (Ire) (Deep Impact {Jpn}) in the G1 Moyglare Stud S. before the rain came which speaks volumes about her status at Ballydoyle and in hindsight the only real scare for her all day came when her plane had to be grounded soon after take-off which led to a delay in getting to Newmarket. Always in the leading quartet, she was moved up to take on Different League two out and began to assert her superiority inside the last 150 yards en route to an ultimately-convincing success. “She’s very high-class and travelled beautifully throughout,” Ryan Moore said. “It was a messy race, but she always had herself in the right position and was always comfortable and always in control. It’s been a while since she ran and she has improved with every start and will continue to do so. She gives me every indication that she will go further.”
Aidan O’Brien was happy to compare the winner favourably with her brother and said, “She’s right in his mould, she has a great mind with plenty of speed and stays–nothing fazes her. She will have the option of going to America [for the Breeders’ Cup] now, but the lads will decide. If she says she’ll be happy to do that, a mile around there on nice ground will be no problem to her. She wants further, but it’s her class that gets her through over six furlongs. She’s been progressing with every run and coming along lovely at home and to show that kind of class over six furlongs, you would have to be over the moon.”
Different League put up another dynamic effort in Britain and trainer Matthieu Palussiere was delighted. “She keeps putting up great performances,” he commented. “You would imagine she will keep improving, with her physique. She was beaten by a filly that is improving. You would have to think about taking the winner on again. She has a great temperament. I would say that it is for the year. I would say she will have a prep race before the Guineas.” It was revealed that Madeline could be on her way to Del Mar by trainer Roger Varian. “She is an honest, talented filly but she didn’t quite have the guns to win,” he commented. “She ran a good race and she has run well all year. She didn’t come down the hill like the first two, but when she met the rising ground she stayed on. We will see how she is, but we might consider the Juvenile Fillies’ Turf. The way she has stayed on, she would get a flat American two-turn mile and she will be better on faster ground.”
Clemmie is now the second top-level winner for the Listed Curragh S. scorer and G2 Queen Mary S. runner-up Meow and it will be no surprise to see her add to Churchill’s Guineas tally in the spring. Meow is one of three black-type winners produced by the aforementioned Airwave, whose half-sister Jwala (GB) (Oasis Dream {GB}) captured the G1 Nunthorpe S. Airwave’s Aloof (Ire) by Galileo took the G3 Denny Cordell Lavarack & Lanwades Stud Fillies’ S. Meow’s yearling and foal are full-brothers to Clemmie.

Kitten’s Joy’s Roaring Lion Now Three-For-Three After the Royal Lodge
1st at NEW, Gr. Stk, £100,000 | G2 Juddmonte Royal Lodge S. | (8f) | Winner: Roaring Lion, c, 2 by Kitten’s Joy |
Roaring Lion | Racing Post
By Tom Frary
Roaring Lion was introduced in the mile maiden on the July Course won by Frankel (GB) and Motivator (GB) Aug. 18 and followed a taking success there with a six-length verdict under a penalty in a novice contest on Kempton’s Polytrack Sept. 8. Restrained early by Oisin Murphy behind the leading trio, the grey showed a sharp turn of acceleration to overwhelm the market leader Nelson and Mildenberger passing the quarter pole before veering right through greenness. Giving Nelson another chance as a result, he rallied when straightened to regain the initiative near the line and thrust ahead. “I was still on the bridle passing the bushes, so I couldn’t have waited any longer,” his rider said. “They went a good gallop and he travelled like a nice horse. He certainly has a big future.”
John Gosden is looking at a possible Breeders’ Cup tilt with the winner. “He did very well and it wouldn’t be his favourite ground,” he explained. “He has done nothing but improve. He has won on the July Course and the Polytrack and we couldn’t be more pleased with him. It’s a big track and he is a baby. He was in the middle and he had no rail and he started wandering. Oisin gave him a flick with his right hand and he was nearly in the grandstand. He straightened him up and he came back as he went a neck down. He has got plenty of class and is a nice horse. You either put him away or you look at a choice of two races. One is obviously Doncaster [for the Oct. 28 G1 Racing Post Trophy] and the other is Del Mar. I love Doncaster and I would be worried if it got deep and that wouldn’t be the place to go. He is an American-bred horse and he likes top-of-the-ground. The next 10 days with the horse will tell us everything. He has come on a lot from Kempton. I would have been terribly disappointed if he wasn’t in the shake-up.”
Nelson was also affected by the flight delay from Ireland and Aidan O’Brien said, “Ryan rode him as he found him. He ran a very good race and was right there all the way. He had a bit of a messy morning and he only just arrived at the races. The poor fellow had never flown before, but he learnt a lot today. I don’t know how much that affected him, but it wasn’t an advantage. He is a little bit of baby and took a few runs to learn. We are very happy with the run. He kept going and he is a nice horse. Ryan was happy with him and that he ran a good, solid race. If he was to run again, he would have the choice of the Racing Post Trophy or the mile-and-a-quarter race in France [the Oct. 29 G1 Criterium de Saint-Cloud].”
Roaring Lion is the first foal out of Vionnet who was third in the GI Rodeo Drive S. and is a daughter of the GIII Las Cienegas H. and GIII Senator Ken Maddy H. winner Cambiocorsa. She in turn has four stakes winners to her credit headed by the GII Royal Heroine Mile S. scorer Schiaparelli (Ghostzapper) and the GII John C. Mabee S. scorer Moulin de Mougin (Curlin). Cambiocorsa is a full-sister to the five-times graded-stakes scorer California Flag whose exploits include three victories in the GIII Morvich H. Vionnet’s yearling colt is by Medaglia d’Oro.
