Mercoledì all’ippodromo SNAI San Siro che si apre con le amazzoni e i cavalieri impegnati in una reclamare sui 1.500 metri della pista circolare. Con qualche elemento che rientra e con condizione da verificare, la scelta pende tra MISTER IRON e Salar Park Lass, in forma accettabile e finiti insieme in un riferimento comune ma con i chili che concedono un leggero vantaggio al primo citato.
Nella 2^ corsa entrano in scena i 2 anni, impegnati nella prima delle due maiden loro riservate, quella sui 1.200 metri. Elementi interessanti al via, con una lieve preferenza per INTENSE GLARE che ha perso di un soffio al debutto a grossa quota con un avversario molto stimato e che verrà certamente avanti. Tekedici e River Jordan, tra loro inseparabili, sono altri due che si sono ben comportati nell’esordio dietro due avversari altrettanto quotati e pure Mondorosa ha già fatto vedere di saper galoppare.
Pochi ma buoni per questa condizionata riservata ai 3 anni ed oltre sui 1.800 metri della pista circolare. Una terza corsa che stuzzica parecchio la chance del giovane TRUST IN ME, che a pari peso contro gli anziani non avrà vita facile, ma ha qualità e mezzi per metterli tutti in fila. Screaming Eagle ha corso al di sotto del suo standard l’ultima volta ma resta un avversario pericolosissimo, e insieme a lui va collocato Magic Mystery, un altro con le sue brave carte in mano. Amintore rende in chili ma la forma è ottima, mentre Ceffone è in cerca della condizione migliore.
Il primo handicap del giorno è di categoria ordinaria sui caratteristici 1.400 metri in dirittura e aperto a tutti. Doc Charm e Strong Effort sono arrivati primo e terza in una prova analoga su distanza più breve e saranno ancora in prima linea, ma ancor più di loro intriga QUEEN TANGO, che ha stracorso nella Finale del San Siro Mile e che potrebbe trovarsi molto bene su questo tracciato. Tracciato sul quale Salimbeni aveva colpito duro un mese fa e che prova per la prima volta Ciara’s Beauty, che arriva in forma.
Torna in azione la generazione più giovane nella 5^ corsa per la maiden allungata ai 1.400 metri con la curva. Sui valori editi Kartero è quello che balza all’occhio ricordando come si era presentato prima di venire letteralmente tamponato da un avversario, ma pure Caterpillar ha esordito in maniera molto valida. Vocepoetica può mettere in campo l’esperienza, ma l’idea è quella di affidarsi al fascino e alle voci di scuderia che dicono bene dei debuttanti BIZ HONOR e Zengia, di qualità e provenienti da top team e con il primo in pole position di pochissimo.
E’ il turno dei fondisti, giovani ed anziani, impegnati in un handicap di ordinaria amministrazione sul miglio e mezzo della pista circolare. Con l’annunciato ritiro di Odraode Xam, quelli che restano come primi due della scala dei pesi, Tony’s Power e MAXEDO KING, si presentano alla vigilia un gradino sopra gli altri e la preferenza verso il secondo è solo in base al recente scontro diretto per lui favorevole. La versatile Piccolagladiatrice può fare da terza incomoda, anche se il compagno di colori Candreva ha già vinto su questa distanza.
L’infrasettimanale del galoppo a San Siro si chiude con un handicap di buona categoria sugli intermedi 1.800 metri per i 3 anni ed oltre. Si rivede Bianco E Nero, il vincitore dell’Handicap di Primavera, che non corre da quel giorno e che merita tutto il rispetto del caso, ma più di lui convince ALSHALAAL, non molto fortunato nel Trenno dove però ha suggerito di aver il colpo in canna. Verdetto Finale e Roptuz non mancheranno di farsi sotto, ma lo stesso si può dire di Private Dancer e Butter And Jam.

Normandel backed up an Aug. 19 debut score at Clairefontaine with a second in Chantilly’s Sept. 8 G3 Prix d’Aumale, but was off the board in the G1 Prix Marcel Boussac back there Oct. 2 and again in Maisons-Laffitte’s G3 Prix Imprudence on seasonal bow Apr. 10, and lined up for this task coming off a May 10 conditions fifth back at Chantilly once more May 10. Stalking a sedate pace in second until inching closer on the home turn, she was sent wide at the top of the straight and kept on well under mild urging in the closing stages to assert superiority for a career high. “We thought she had good quality after her win at Clairefontaine last year, but we hadn’t really figured out the best way to ride her,” revealed trainer Pia Brandt. “After today’s race, I think we now know what to do with her. Like her [half-] brother [and former stablemate] Mont Ormel, she won on debut at Clairefontaine and he also won on this card [in the Listed Prix Ridgway] last year. We’ll follow a similar pattern and now go for a 12-furlong race and, for her, it will be the [July 2 G2] Prix de Malleret [at Saint-Cloud].”

Afandem posted 9 1/2-furlong tallies at Deauville Oct. 17 and at Chantilly on sophomore return Mar. 10, and registered a career high in this turf bow after an enforced absence. Settled third for most of this initial try at stakes level, he loomed large on the bit to challenge passing the quarter-mile marker and was ridden out in the closing stages to gain a narrow verdict. “He was scratched on the morning of the [Apr. 9 G3] Prix la Force [at Chantilly] as he was among Jean-Claude Roget’s band of sick horses,” explained racing manager Rupert Pritchard Gordon. “He returned today after that extended break so it is most satisfying to see that he can perform at such level and remain undefeated. We will see what’s next for him, but the [July 16 G2] Prix Eugene Adam [at Maisons-Laffitte] is a likely option.”

Precieuse Sold to White Birch Farm

Precieuse (Ire) (Tamayuz {GB}), winner of the G1 Poule d’Essai des Pouliches last month for her owner-breeders Brendan and Anne Marie Hayes, has been sold to continue racing for Peter M. Brant of White Birch Farm. The filly, who will continue to be trained in Chantilly by Fabrice Chappet, is expected to be supplemented for next Friday’s G1 Coronation S. at Royal Ascot.
Brendan Hayes, who bred Precieuse at his Knocktoran Stud in Ireland, commented, “We are very happy that she has gone to Peter, who really loves his racing, and in the long term she will be joining a high-class broodmare band and be offered the best possible matings in her career as a broodmare. She remains in training with Fabrice Chappet who has done a great job with her.”
Brant, who bred and raced Gulch (Mr. Prospector) and was also the owner of the outstanding Tryptich (Riverman) in the latter stages of her racing career, made a significant splash at Goffs last year when buying a number of horses from the Wildenstein Stables Dispersal. More than €1 million was spent on a Dansili (GB) yearling filly and three horses in training bought in the name of White Birch Farm, while one of two in-training purchases through Northshore Bloodstock, Parauari (Fr) (Lawman {Fr}), provided White Birch Farm with a win last week when sent to Dieppe by Alain de Royer Dupre.
Precieuse is the second high-profile purchase in recent weeks by Brant, who is now the co-owner of G3 Prix Penelope winner Sistercharlie (Fr) (Myboycharlie {Ire}). The Henri-Alex Pantall-trained filly is an intended runner in Sunday’s G1 Prix de Diane Longines.
