Off the mark over 100 metres further here last time Mar. 26, Attica took a leap forward to suggest she will be the one to beat of the home brigade in the G2 German 1000 Guineas back at this venue June 18. Restrained early by Adrie de Vries tending to over-race in rear, the bay was launched wide at the top of the straight and swamped the leaders approaching the furlong pole en route to a commanding success. Attica, who is from the first crop of the talented G3 Preis der Favoriten winner Tai Chi, is a half to Anna Katharina who annexed the G3 Hamburger Stuten-Preis and was runner-up in the Listed Iffezheimer Derby-Trial. Her second dam Anna Thea also won the Hamburger Stutenpreis before producing Aspectus (Ire) (Spectrum {Ire}), a multiple group-winning highweight at a mile who also captured the G2 Oppenheim-Union-Rennen over 11 furlongs, as well as the dam of the G1 Criterium de Saint-Cloud runner-up Willie the Whipper (GB) (Whipper). The extended family includes the champion 2-year-old and sire Aspros (Ger) and Anna Paola (Ger) (Prince Ippi {Ger}), the champion 2-year-old and 3-year-old filly and heroine of the G2 Preis der Diana.

Frankie Dettori would have had few easier times in front around Chantilly and the master of front-running riding duly punished his rival jockeys’s complacency with a comfortable success here on the British raider The Black Princess. Second in the Listed Height of Fashion S. over this trip at Goodwood last May, the bay had run third in the G2 Ribblesdale S. over a mile and a half at Royal Ascot in June and was next seen winning the Listed Prix Solitude over this course and distance in November. Handed the lead and the rail advantage exiting the stalls, she was restrained to slow the tempo to suit and once she had been asked to increase it in the straight the race was already in safe keeping. Despite drifting left late on, she was always firmly in control with the only concern for connections being a brief enquiry into possible interference to Armande. “I know she stays further, so I didn’t want to take any chances and went to the lead,” Dettori said. “I didn’t want to be caught for speed and although she would have liked it softer, she did it well on the ground.”
Larceny, who also has a 2-year-old filly by Dark Angel (Ire) named Gabrielle (Fr) and a yearling filly by Zebedee (GB), is a half-sister to the G1 Prix du Jockey Club and G1 Prix Jean Prat-winning sire Lawman (Fr), the G1 Prix de Diane heroine Latice (Ire) (Inchinor {GB}) and the G3 Prix du Palais-Royal-winning sire Satri (Ire). Descendants of the third dam Light the Lights, who captured the G2 Prix de Pomone and was third in the G1 Prix Vermeille, include the G2 Prix de Malleret winner Al Wathna (GB) (Nayef) and the GI American Oaks third Little Journey (Fr) (Great Journey {Jpn}), while the fourth dam is the G3 Prix de Flore scorer and G1 Prix Saint-Alary runner-up Lighted Glory (Nijinsky II).

First crop sires: Primi vincitori per French Fifteen e Pedro The Great, entrambi a San Siro.
