Cloth Of Stars goes for a third Pattern victory at Saint-Cloud, France, on his seasonal return in the 10-furlong G3 Prix Exbury on Sunday, March 19.
The four-year-old colt scored over the same course and distance twice last year, in the G3 Prix La Force in April and the G2 Prix Greffulhe the following month, and was also runner-up in the 2015 G1 Criterium de Saint‑Cloud, again over a mile and a quarter.
The Andre Fabre-trained runner also lined up at Saint-Cloud on his most recent start in July, taking third behind Mont Ormel and Red Verdon in the 12-furlong G1 Grand Prix de Paris, which took place at Saint-Cloud in 2016 due to the redevelopment of Longchamp.
Mickael Barzalona, successful on Cloth Of Stars in the Prix La Force and the Prix Greffulhe, takes the ride again on the colt, who faces nine rivals including G1 E P Taylor Stakes third Banzari.
Lisa-Jane Graffard of Godolphin commented: “Cloth Of Stars has not run for a while, but is in good form and Andre Fabre is very happy with him.
“He will need the race and is carrying a penalty but he has run very well over this course and distance in the past.
“Cloth Of Stars is not a big horse but we are very pleased with his condition going into his first start of the year.”
