In giappone si sono tenuti gli Oscar del galoppo, per nominare i migliori rappresentanti del 2017. Come ampiamente previsto il titolo di Horse of the Year for 2016 è andato al vincitore di Japan Cup Kitasan Black (Black Tide) che ha ottenuto gli onori da parte della Japan Racing Association. Il figlio di Black Tide (Sunday Silence), ha ottenuto 134 voti su 291 per la selezione effettuata da tutti i giornalisti di tutte le testate possibili. Secondo è arrivato Maurice (Screen Hero) con 90 voti mentre Satono Diamond (Deep Impact) ne ha presi 66. Soddisfatto il proprietario Saburo Kitajima che ha ringraziato la “academy” e poi ha annunciato che molto probabilmente il suo non si muoverà dal Giappone neanche nel 2017 cercando di vincere ancora in patria (peccato!) ed affermarsi con vittorie che non gli sono riuscite ancora come Takarazuka Kinen e Arima Kinen. Al contrario, si stanno muovendo i grossi calibri con destinazione Meydan. Già annunciato nelle scorse ore un summit dubaiano per Sounds Of Earth (Neo Universe), molteplice piazzato di G1 tra cui la Japan Cup ma mai vincitore a questo livello, un pò come il Tano Belloni dell’ippica nipponica, il quale cercherà un tilt nello Sheema Classic. In teoria, con Mirco Demuro a bordo. Ma non è così scontato.

Market Leading February Sale Catalogue Online     Goffs have released the 3 day February Sale catalogue which will be held from Tuesday 7th to Thursday 9th February starting at 10 am daily. There are 750 lots with highlights including the first stage of the Ballymacoll Stud Dispersal, the final stage of the Wildenstein Dispersal and significant drafts from top class consignors such as Godolphin and Moyglare among others. Graduates of the sale include the 2016 Breeders Cup Turf Sprint winner Obviously (pictured) and Group 1 Royal Ascot winner My Dream Boat.   Ballymacoll have 5 fillies on offer including a filly by Dubawi out of multiple Group 1 winning mare Islington (Lot 498) and a half-sister to three group winners, headed by Group 1 winner Sir John Hawkwood (Lot 672) to be consigned by Jockey Hall Stud.  In addition to the Ballymacoll horses, Jockey Hall have some other eye-catching fillies by such sought after sires as Galileo, Dubawi, Shamardal and Fastnet Rock.   The sale begins on Tuesday 7th February with two-year-olds and older horses. These include Persuasion (Lot 19) a half-sister to five black type horses and a granddaughter of Pawneese, consigned by Castlebridge as part of the Wildenstein Stables Ltd dispersal, and 2011 Group 1 Dewhurst winner Parish Hall (Lot 84) consigned by Glebe House Stables.   There are over 400 weanlings on offer with a strong representation of pedigrees that will appeal to both National Hunt and Flat buyers. The weanlings will start at approximately 12.30 on Tuesday and run on through Wednesday with the breeding stock being offered on Thursday.    Flat sires include: Acclamation, Camacho, Camelot, Champs Elysees, Dandy Man, Dark Angel, Dawn Approach, Footstepsinthesand, Holy Roman Emperor, Intello, Kendargent, Kodiac, Kyllachy, Le Havre, Mukhadram, New Approach, No Nay Never, Siyouni, Slade Power and Zoffany.     National Hunt sires include:  Ask, Beat Hollow, Califet, Fame And Glory, Flemensfirth, Mahler, Ocovango, Presenting, Saddler Maker, Shantou, Shirocco, Sholokhov, Westerner and Yeats.   Breeding stock lots on offer include mares in foal to Australia, Dark Angel and Dawn Approach with an emphasis among the major drafts on maiden fillies sired by Frankel, Street Cry, Sea The Stars, Azamour and many more.   Goffs Group Chief Executive Henry Beeby said:   “The Goffs February Sale is a clear market leader at this time of year and its popularity is illustrated by the expansion to three days. Goffs Uk ha annunciato nelle scorse di ore di aver rilasciato un catalogo per le February Sale, quest’anno estese a 3 giorni. L’asta avrà luogo tra il 7 ed il 9 Febbraio con un significativo dispersal proposto dal Ballymacoll Stud che proporrà nel catalogo una serie di femmine black type o madri di vincitori di G1 o comunque ad alto livello. Come per esempio Edith Wharton (Dubawi), figlia della buonissima Islington (Sadler’s Wells), oppure una sorellastra del vincitore di G1 in Australia Sir John Hawkwood (Sir Percy). L’asta si aprirà con una sezione per i cavalli di 2 anni, cavalli in training tra i quali figurano ben 19 cavalli rappresentati dal The Castlebridge Consignment per conto del Wildenstein Dispersal. Tra gli altri Jim Bolger ha messo dentro il vincitore di G1 Paris Hall (Teofilo), vincitore di Dewhurst Stakes G1, otto anni, potenzialmente come prospetto di stallone. Poi sarà il turno degli yearlings con molti stalloni buoni rappresentati.

Ecco i nuovi primi arrivati. In settimana abbiamo visto il primo figlio nato di Golden Horn (Cape Cross), ritirato al Dalham Hall Stud dopo una stagione straripante con vittorie nel Derby, Eclipse, Irish Champion Stakes e Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe. A dar la luce il primo rappresentante dei campioni dei tre anni è stata La Dorotea (Lope De Vega), presso il Deerfield Farm in Newmarket. La Dorotea è sorella della vincitrice di G1 nel Saint Alary Jemayel e mezza sorella di Mast Track, sempre livelli da G1, ed il vincitore di Listed Redbrook. La Dorotea con il piccolo sono ritratti nella foto accanto, inviataci da Darley.

La prima femmina nata da Golden Horn è invece per i colori di Anthony Oppenheimer dell’Hascombe and Valiant Stud, prodotto della fattrice Hoyam (Royal Applause), cavalla che ha fatto benissimo a 2 anni vincendo le Roses Stakes Lr e finendo seconda nelle Queen Mary Stakes G2 al Royal Ascot. Golden Horn funziona presso il Darley in Inghilterra ad un tasso di £60,000.

In chiave italiana qualche giorno fa è venuto al mondo il primo figlio di Kingston Hill (Mastercraftsman) nato presso il Ballinasisla Stud in County Waterford prodotto della fattrice italiana Nonna Iole (Tobougg), piazzata di Listed, per conto della Le.Gi. della famiglia Parri, quest’anno saliti agli onori delle cronache per l’ennesima buona stagione di produzione in pista e per aver prodotto il vincitore di G1 Beauty Only ad Hong Kong.. Ricordiamo lo score di Kingston Hill, vincitore di Racing Post Trophy, secondo di Derby di Australia e vincitore di St Leger. Funzionava per €6,000 al Coolmore Stud nel 2016, tasso sceso a €5,000 nel 2017.
