Secondo è arrivato il favorito The Last Samurai (Flemensfirth) mentre terzo il veterano Vic’s Canvas (Old Vic), 13 anni, vivido in battaglia.

Rule The World given hero’s welcome home

BY DAVID JENNINGS 10 APR 2016

A CROWD of hundreds turned out to welcome home Grand National hero Rule The World on Sunday.

Less than 24 hours after his Aintree heroics, Rule The World returned to Mullingar, Ireland for the traditional homecoming – and received a rapturous reception from locals.

Winning trainer Mouse Morris was also on site for the party, although he seemed to take slightly less pleasure in the fanfare than his horse.

“Look this whole thing is not my cup of tea but sure isn’t it great,” said Morris.

“All these people have come out to welcome us home and, to be perfectly honest, I am humbled by it all.”

Morris won a Gold Cup with War Of Attrition but said Rule The World was the best he has ever trained.

“Rule The World is the best horse I have ever trained,” he said. “If he didn’t fracture his pelvis twice and I had a clean run with him, he could have been a Gold Cup horse.

“I think he was better than War Of Attrition was. I am not just saying that now because he won a Grand National. I have always said it.”
