DOMENICA 13 DICEMBRE 2015 Hong Kong: Uno-due giapponese nella Cup! Vince A Shin Hikari, Ryan Moore quasi miracoloso ancora secondo

Delirio e potenza giapponese a Sha Tin. Stavolta però, è maturato un risultato a sorpresa nella Hong Kong Cup G1 dove la vittoria è andata all’eterno veterano Yutaka Take in sella a A Shin Hikari (Deep Impact) che ha causato un violento upset da 40/1 in una corsa dove hanno deluso i favoriti. Il cavallo di Masanori Sagaguchi, un 4 anni deludente nel Tenno Sho ma vincitore di 9 delle 11 corse disputate in carrier, ha concluso a tempo di record in 2 minuti e 0,60 decimi, avendo la meglio della femmina Nuovo Record (Heart’s Cry), ancora Ryan Moore a bordo, e Blazing Speed (Dylan Thomas) con Neil Callan. Inpressionante sin dal via, A Shin ha giocato la carta del ritmo mettendo di passo Free Eagle, il primo ad attaccarlo, involandosi dall’ingresso in retta accumulando vantaggio dalle 4 lunghezze prese nello slancio dolo la curva.
Nulla di fatto per Military Attack, Designs of Rome, Beauty Only e soprattutto per il favorito Free Eagle, che ha segnato il passo giungendo nelle retrovie. Per lui era l’ultima in carriera prima dell’ingresso in razza all’Irish National Stud. Scene di delirio a Sha Tin, con groupies giapponesi in lacrime per un esito storico, in una giornata storica.

Hong Kong: #Maurice nuova star del Mile, ancora Ryan Moore a bordo. Terzo Able Friend

Un Ryan Moore spaziale, dopo il Vase, ha servito caldo caldo anche il Mile G1 in sella a Maurice (Screen Hero), già vincitore del Mile Championship in Giappone, venuto nell’ex colonia cinese per stupire ancora. Lo chiamano “beast from ghe east” ed in effetti il modus operandi del cavallo di Noriyuki Hori è stato di quelli che non lasciano scampo, con il miglior fantino attualmente sulla terra a gestirne potenza e controllo. Ad una certa ha fatto ciao ciao, e tanti saluti per davvero. Battuto Giant Treasure mentre il saurone Able Friend, il più forte cavallo che Hong Kong abbia mai avuto, è appannato terzo a conferma degli ultimi trial deludenti. Able sta pagando ancora lo scotto della trasferta al Royal Ascot, ma ha comunque corso alla grande subendo l’anticipo di Maurice, ripartendo, ma flettendo molto nel finale quando il giapponese è ripartito. Quarta per la cronaca Esoterique, gli altri europei compresi Toormore e Red Dubawi, con Mirco Demuro su Fiero, del gatto invece, con questo che non ha trovato molto spazio. Per Maurice era la quinta vittoria consecutiva sul miglio, di cui le ultime due in G1. Maurizio, che non diventi un vizio.

Hong Kong: Moreira meraviglioso su #Peniaphobia, suo lo Sprint sul favorito Gold Fun.

Serviva una magia, e l’ha fatta. Magic Joao Moreira ha portato a casa la vittoria su Peniaphobia (Dandy Man) partendo da un difficoltoso 14 di gabbia, mettendo in scena una tattica wire to wire, e mettendo nel sacco il favorito Gold Fun (Le Vie Dei Colori) con Soumillon al secondo, mentre per il terzo è emerso l’australiano Not Listenin’Tome. Quarto un altro locale, quinto Mongolian Saturday. Sul tema della velocità, i downunder sono un’altra categoria. Anche se nei primi due scorre sangue irlandese. Per Joao Meravigliao Moreira era la vittoria numero 300 ad Hong Kong.

Hong Kong: Highland Reel emerge nel Vase G1 tutto europeo! BattutoFlintshire, quarto Rispoli e np Cirrus

C’è sempre una prima volta. Figuriamoci per Aidan o’Brien che prima d’ora non aveva mai vinto ad Hong Kong. È accaduto con Highland Reel (Galileo), reduce da una campagna australiana e sempre più somigliante a St Nicholas Abbey nel profilo, il quale ha vinto l’edizione 2015 del Vase G1 battendo il campione uscente Flintshire (Dansili), con al terzo l’Aga Khan Dariyan. I primi tre fantini sono Ryan Moore, Vincent Cheminaud e Cristophe Soumillon. Ancora europa al quarto posto con Umbertino Rispoli in sella a Ming Dinasty. Quinto il primo dei locali Helene Happy Star, mentre non piazzato un generoso Cirrus Des Aigles. Notare come la madre di Dariyan, Daryakana (Selkirk) vinse il Vase 2009, battendo Cirrus. L’hippodrome de Sha Tin accueillait ses traditionnels internationaux de Hong Kong ce dimanche avec pas moins de 4 prestigieux Groupes 1 au programme. Tenante du titre dans le “Vase”, la France doit céder sa couronne à l’Irlande, sans démériter. Le Japon s’octroie 2 des 4 temps forts. Le jockey britannique Ryan Moore réalise un joli doublé.

R4 C4 – Hong Kong Vase (Groupe 1) – Highland Reel plus fort que les français

Tenant du titre, le pensionnaire d’André Fabre, Flintshire s’annonçait comme le grand favori d’une épreuve qui a très souvent souri aux français. Associé à Vincent Cheminaud, Flintshire réalise une nouvelle performance de choix mais doit concéder sa couronne à l’irlandais Highland Reel qui se montre le plus fort à la lutte. Flintshire 5 ans n’a pas encore rendez vous avec le haras, certes il perd sa couronne dans cette épreuve mais sa performance est très bonne et il pourrait poursuivre encore sa carrière de course jusqu’en 2016.

A record LONGINES Hong Kong International Races crowd of 85,552, nine percent up on 12 months ago, turned out at Sha Tin Racecourse today (Sunday, 13 December) for the HK$83 million showpiece and the world’s year-end racing spectacular did not disappoint, producing four stunning victory performances in the day’s Group 1 features.

“Today we have seen the highest ever attendance at the LONGINES Hong Kong International Races,” said Mr. Winfried Engelbrecht-Bresges, the Hong Kong Jockey Club’s Chief Executive Officer. “We have invested significantly in facilities to create this wonderful theatre for dream performances, and we are seeing that our racing fans are embracing this.”

Rounding the whole day off in style after the last race is a pyrotechnic display lighting up the night sky in honour of the 2015 LONGINES HKIR champions.

In the day’s showcase races, Japan’s crack miler Maurice scored a sensational victory against local star Able Friend in the HK$23 million LONGINES Hong Kong Mile, and another Japanese raider, A Shin Hikari, blazed a trail to a breathtaking success in the feature, the HK$25 million LONGINES Hong Kong Cup. Ireland notched its first win at the event in 11 years thanks to the three-year-old Galileo colt, Highland Reel, in the HK$16.5 million LONGINES Hong Kong Vase, and Hong Kong’s Peniaphobia hit the board for the home team with a blitzing run from the front in the HK$18.5 million LONGINES Hong Kong Sprint.

Peniaphobia takes the LONGINES Hong Kong Sprint (Group 1, 1200m) at Sha Tin Racecourse today for trainer Tony Cruz and jockey Joao Moreira.

The A P O’Brien-trained Highland Reel with Ryan Moore in the saddle wins the LONGINES Hong Kong Vase (Group 1-2400M).

“Going into today’s meeting it looked like it was going to be the best ever HKIR and it proved to be – it certainly was tremendous,” said Mr. Engelbrecht-Bresges. “The distribution of wins, with an Irish horse, two Japanese horses and a Hong Kong horse winning, shows the global appeal of this occasion.”

Of the 53 runners that went to post for the four feature contests, 29 were already international Group 1 winners (compared with a previous record 22 G1 winners). Mr. Engelbrecht-Bresges pointed to the continuing support of the world’s leading horsemen as being key to the occasion’s success.

“In the Vase we had Aidan O’Brien’s first win in the race and it’s great to have the world’s top trainers not only supporting this event but also being successful,” he said.

“We saw some amazing performances today: Moreira was amazing on Peniaphobia, how he overcame the wide gate; we had an outstanding performance from Maurice, who is now a global superstar at a mile; and the performance of A Shin Hikari was brilliant. We have enjoyed a marvellous race meeting with a great atmosphere and that is possible because we have the support of the big owners and breeders around the world.”

Turnover for the day was HK$1.449 billion across the card’s 10 races.

“Our turnover was down by just more than one percent on last year but it is still the second highest turnover in the history of the event, so from a financial point of view we are very satisfied,” said the CEO.

Mr. Engelbrecht-Bresges thanked those in attendance and applauded the efforts of the Hong Kong Jockey Club’s staff: “The team here at the Hong Kong Jockey Club has worked really hard to put on this event and it is extremely gratifying for all of us to see such a successful outcome. We have positioned the Hong Kong International Races as one of the top international racing events in the world; we have made it the greatest show on turf.”

Mr. William A. Nader, the Hong Kong Jockey Club’s Executive Director of Racing said: “Today is a true celebration of international sport at its finest and when you wake up on a day like today, you know you’re going to see something special. I think when you look at the growth of this day, if you go back to 2005, the total attendance was only 44,000 and today we have 85,500. The mass appeal in Hong Kong and globally, and this occasion’s rise up to become world racing’s culminating event each year, is not only a spectacular success for the Hong Kong Jockey Club but also the sport at large.”
